Now I understand why LASD Dupties are known as Power driven, Under achieving, Civil rights violating, simpletons. Maybe if they trained better, Dupties like David March, Jerry Diaz, and Steven Sorenson would be alive.

Maybe...maybe if they were, say, doctors instead of cops they would also be alive....bu that was not their choice...

The law enforcement academy's have certainly changed since the day I went through....Some of the Academy's have made it easier for individuals to get through regardless of gender which I think is totally wrong. if they can't handle it going through now what makes you think they will be able to handle it out in the real world.... this is not an easy job when you have to deal with societies worst moments and ultimately their survival goes back to their training..

This article is only the tip of the iceberg. As a fairly recent graduate of the LASD academy, I can independently verify that the standards have been significantly lowered both inside and outside of the classroom. People who fail written tests are spoonfed the answers and re-tested immediately so as to retain the answers in their short term memory long enough to pass. People who fail hands-on type of stuff are re-tested outside the presence of other recruits and suddenly pass with flying colors. What a crock!

I honestly believe that filming the training compromises the skills and abilities that the recruits receive. Imagine a criminal that watches the TV show "The Academy" and learns everything the recruits learn and remembers the faces of the recruits, only to find the graduated Sheriff murdered by a "cop killer". This is also ruins the chances/delays for DST applicants that truly want to protect and serve the LA county, considering how many crimes are occurring these days.

They have totally lowered their standards and their only concern in in the number of recruits that graduate. the staff is only allowed to disqualify/fire a small percentage of the recruits per class. once they reach that number they are ordered to pass everyone else no matter how stupid or unsafe they are.

I think POST Should withhold the certifications of all recruits that graduated during the last year until the department re-tests all of them to verify who really qualify for it. passing recruits that cant cut it is BS, their life and the life of the public may depend on their abilities in the near future to make a split second decision in a life threatning situation. if my life was on the line, I would not want to depend on one of these incompetent recruits to make the right decision. LASD DO THE RIGHT THING....

I wonder what percentage of recruits served in Iraq.

OK, no one is answering my question. I posed this question because when I went to a Los Angeles County Fire Department graduation, 22 of 23 graduates were in Iraq. This point was made in the graduation ceremony and obviously was something they were proud of.
Without an answer to recent LADP grads I am led to believe that service in our armed forces is fround upon. There is no difference between the Mexican Mafia and Al Qaeda or the Taliban. I would prefer that for our LADP that we hire these fine young men that when confronted with an attack in hailing munitions headed their way they would say “Yeah, lets get them” and head towards the battle.
Your silence if defining.

I was with LASD for a long time and throught the years, almost every Academy class had a story of a female that made it through that did not deserve it. LASD would push females through whether they passed the set standards or not. It is not just in the academy, but thoughout the department that this problem exists. The call for diversity has trumpted ability and ethics. It is sad and the citizens deserve better.

I was wondering if anyone knew what the ramefications are for those who graduated in recent years? I'm curious to know if they are still sworn officers or have their badges and authority been removed from them until this is resolved? I ask this because a buddy of mine graduated from their academy and is not even out of his probationary perios yet.

zigpen wrote: POST says he bumps everyone. Now, my name's not Fleming, Ylst. OK, your name's not Fleming. So what? And just who do you think you're bumping? Do you think you can do policework better than a whole academy of police officers? Why, just what do you think you can prove? That the Executive Life Insurance Company seizure was fake? Just because they put the wrong person's name on some legal papers and James Sherriff from Sacramento didn't catch it? That's a multi-million dollar white collar crime you're insinuating someone's guilty of. And who is that, pray tell? John Garamendi, the state's lieutenant governor? Are you saying he's not supposed to be in office? And what's that got to do with POST? Is it because of the stupid blonde haired girls who yell "Your money now!" while you're testing? Those are going to be cops? Sounds more like robbers to me. Do they steal right while they're taking the POST test? Is that right? That's not a state seizure, that's a robbery. Don't let them get away! No wonder they shut that academy down. It's full of crooks.

ammg wrote: No wonder they shut that academy down. It's full of crooks. Well, you must have gotten one good POST score yourself, for you to talk that way. You got a real good score? Then why aren't you a cop? Did you get busted for something you didn't do? Does that have anything to do with the state seizure of Executive Life Insurance Company? You better hope that you don't get fired off of job after job for no reason at all!

It's none of your business about anyone being fired because they don't believe in the use of paid informants by police officers! Paid informants who lie about things so officers pay them more money for busts for crimes that don't even happen! You don't know anything about it!
