Maybe it is your fault because you hate the breed so much. They have feelings and can sense your hatred and are latching out.

There is no such thing as a vicious dog breed. There are vicious dog owners who train their dogs to be vicious. There are neglectful dog owners who end up with hungry, pain ridden dogs. there are even individually vicious dogs for other reasons. The gentlest dog I have ever known has been a Pit Bull. the owner os responsible and should face charges. sadly if the dog is vicious due to his owner (and it was not a case of boy taunts dog boy gets bitten) then it is probably too late to rehabilitate this dog and it needs to be put down.

Dog attacks in the news are almost always pit bulls. Owning that breed should be against the law.

At the very least, any one who wants a Pit Bull should be required to either deposit a $1,000,000.00 cash bond or obtain a $10,000,000.00 insurance policy to own one. The breed would go extinct real fast!

Or people who hate them should just stay away from the dog and things would be good.

What about that poor woman in Thorndale, Tx, who was mowing HER OWN yard and was killed by a neighbor's pit bulls? Huh?

What a dumb thing to say.

There was an incident recently where pit bulls got loose and busted through some lady's screen door and nearly mauled her to death inside her own home.

Pit bulls are a dangerous breed and should be kept in a controlled environment. They can be wonderful dogs but they can also turn deadly without provocation.

I would like to see a picture of the actual dog that was involved. I have heard from reliable sources in Aubrey that the dog is NOT a Pit Bull and that the media are doing their usual riot inciting, hate campaign to get people to listen. "Neighbors Lab mix attacks child" is not news worthy but use the words " Pit Bull " and suddenly you have a story. Pit Bull is not a breed of dog. There are over 25 different breeds of dog that are often mistaken for The American Pit Bull Terrier. We need to let the media know we will NOT tolerate false reporting. What are the real facts. Breed should never be a factor. Why did the dog bite? Is it because of neglect, abuse, improper training? Is the dog an Intact male? Most dog bites are from males that have not been neutered. Why was the dog lose? We have leash laws and there should be much larger fines for dogs running loose, especially if the dog in question is not spayed or neutered. When a dog bites a person, it's not the dogs fault, it's the dog owners fault. That dog was not sitting around that day thinking " I'm gonna get loose and when I do I'm gonna bite that little boy". Dogs don't think that way. That dogs owner needs to be punished, not the dog. That little boys mother needs to realize that. She wants the dog punished. She's looking at the wrong end of the leash. The dog needs to be evaluated by a PROFESSIONAL Animal Behavorist.
I run a dog rescue. Most of the dogs I take in are American Pit Bull Terriers or American Staffordshire Terriers. I have found them all to be sweet, loving, kind, funny dogs. Even the ones that have suffered horribly due to abuse and neglect always have a smile for those they meet. These poor, misunderstood dogs are not the problem. The owners are the problem. And the sensational, criminally negligent news reporting is the other problem. Dogs are domesticated animals. They are what WE make them.
We need to let the media know we will No longer tolerate their hype and false reporting!!

That's because the media falsely report the breed of dog. "Lab mix attacks child" doesn't sell papers or get viewers but use the words Pit Bull and suddenly everyone is interested. This is because the media have made them a target. Just like they did in years past with numeruos other breeds. Breed is NOT the issue hear. Bad ownership is the problem!! STOP blaming the dogs!! Start placing the blame where it belongs, the owners.

"It's Always the dogs fault"??!! You're kidding right. Just how intelligent do you think dogs are? You do realize that dogs are DOMESTICATED animals. We, meaning the human race, have made them what they are. We are responsible for their actions, for their health and for their safety. Sorry but it's NEVER the dogs fault, it's the owner!!!! Someone once said "Ignorance is bliss", that person is an idiot! And, by the way, don't believe everything you read or hear in the media. They'll lie their asses off to sell a few papers or get more veiwers.

I owned a pit bull about 20 years ago. Loved her and she was a sweet dog. Good with my two kids. When she was about 2 years old out of the clear blue she bit someone. I had her put down. You can't trust Pit Bull dogs. My brother lives on 10 acres and his neighbors have two pit bulls. They have killed the other neighbors goats and have attacked my brothers horses on a number of occasions (his vet bills are enormous) and killed my brothers dog. He has shot at them and killed one but they just keep replacing the pits. Brother went to civil court to get damages. Courts said they had to pay their vet bills but they never have. There is really nothing they can do except they got a lien on their property if they ever move. They'll never see a penny because they will never move. Several (white) families (three generations)living in the same mobile home. You just can't trust a pit.

Domesticated does not mean safe. It does not mean that they don't have their instinct. It isn't the owners...I have posted in many other "pit bull attacks" post and I always put the same statistic...2/3's of the attacks are the FIRST sign of violence from the attacking dogs. They may be the sweetest dog to their owners...but put in the right situation...they will surely attack. That means if they escape their comfortable home, they will attack a smaller animal (child) to protect their territory. Don't give me that crap about the owners...pit bulls are vicious animals. Domesticated or not. Just ask Roy (Sigfreid & Roy) about domesticated animals. There is no defending these animals, they are instinctive, they are vicious, they are killers. PERIOD.

I say euthanize mom and her kid for wasting the dogs time to begin with. If you cant watch your 5 yr old better than that quit reproducing or dribble your kid with bbq sauce and sit back and watch the fun.
