it is really sad that the chukchansi people of the picayune cannot be more supportive to the north fork monos...after all they are neighbors and family...many chuckchansis have mono blood too and have family members that are of the mono tribe...as far as the casino goes and the chuckchansi council trying to put up roadblocks for the monos casino they really should be putting more time and energy into their own casino and thier tribe and focus on getting their people in unity and their casino in the good so they can start getting their people the percap checks they are soo deserving of!!!!

Why do the indians have to soley rely on casinos? Is there nothing else for these people? From what I understand, the monos' and chuckchansis' are not that good of friends. Maybe it has changed.

I was raised in friant first moved there in 1940.
The Indains were treated as second class folks. The most of them had a problem with wine and beer. they were a great people to me. I worked in the Friant Trading post while in high school. I got to know the Indians very well. I was always invited to their pow-wows held on the reservation on the auberry highway. If more people had helped the Indians as i tried to do, Friant would have been a better place for all. Lot of my Indian brothers was killed most by car accidents. So until you know them please do not condemn them for what they are doing. They will work it out amongst themselves I am sure.

the casinos were and are to benefit tribes as a whole. allowing them to get better education, medical coverage etc. and not to have to rely on the govt for support.the tribes want to be able to support their own people.but yes somewhere some of our native brothers have lost that thought.and greed has set in.iam of chukchansi and north fork mono blood.north fork is my fathers home lands.(and he too lost many friends and family members in car accidents)my grandfather was north fork mono a member of the coyote clan but he was of chukchansi blood also.his father had land where the casino sits but it was sold years ago. and my grandmother was of chukchansi blood and sooo forth.so all of this hits close to home for me for i have family members that are members of both tribes.years ago back in the 70s and early 80s my grandma used to help the needy ones out by clothing donations and food.she used to get donations from the stores for food baskets on thanksgiving and xmas. she did this loving gesture every year. it would be nice to see some genuine gestures of caring and giving like that today.to all my family and friends who are touched by this situation i luv you all.....

I had a good friend who is chuckchansi, when I lived in california near coarsegold. She was always dropping off clothes for me to wear. After she moved back to coarsegold, I never saw her again. I do believe you can learn alot from these people.

I'd like to know where the good fishing spots are near the casino. Any place where you can fish from your own backyard for those of us who are too lazy to walk down to the fishing and maybe own the land there? For a retired person? Please post any info or either daily fishing or land to buy near fishing.

re-Madera County whiteman,

It is sad to say but you need to keep in mind that it was the white man that taught us how to run our tribes, just like any other people conquer and divide and it is the white mans design that we follow.
Our people in the past got along before casinos were a part of our life we didn't treat our people the way they are being treated now if you were indian all was good.
I am of Mono and Chukchansi decent, I have been disenrolled from the Chukchansi even though I have papers to prove my family's heritage, but fortunatly I am also half Mono, and am enrolled in the North Fork tribe.

I am a Mono Indian who was born and raised in North Fork my entire life and then moved with my own family to where the work was after the Mill Closed. To see how my People are Judged without full knowledge of our Ways & Cultures is just plain IGNORANT. So Mono's , remember that, it is THEY who are the Ignorant ones. They have no inner knowledge of what life and the world truly are about. Kristine Davis Dodge

The Indians are greedy? Where have you been? It was thier land before whiteman came and stole/killed them to take it. Wake up! Hmm if they are greedy, i wonder where they learned it from? Maybe AIG?

It wouldn't be like that is the WHITEMAN didn't take everything from us. The WHITEMAN is just jealous becasue they aren't seeing any of the casino profits.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Virgo

Words are flying around in all directions today, and the conversations will be fast and furious. You might face a lot of distractions and interruptions, or you could get caught up in some rather irritable slanging matches with a certain person. The busier you are, the more fraught you'll become and the more likely to go off the deep end.
