@SCco What is the intent of your comment? A public servant was killed in the process of protecting society from criminals. Do you mean to imply that the Government of Mexico conspired to kill him? You'll have to give us more than one word if you want us to understand your message.

What is up with this reporting? Did they catch the criminals that did this? Was it gang related? What was the race of the 2 that stabbed him? Oh, I'm sorry, I'm not being politically correct and shouldn't ask these questions. These reporters suck.

You are like so many people who only judge our job through the media! What do you think happens to the scum that are locked up? We as Correctional Workers make sure they stay where they are to keep ignorant people like you safe

It doesn't matter where the officer was from nor the race of the inmates that killed him. What matters is that he was doing a job that is dangerous and although he helped keep the public safe, most of the public sees the Officer as the bad guy. The administration gave him nothing to defend himself with. All he has are his hands because the Feds won't allow us to carry a baton nor pepper spray ( Afraid of law suits). Well Feds you can sleep well at night now, the inmates won't be suing you this time. May God give his family strength.

Thank you S-O-S and Acehole! Couldn't have said it better myself! To our Atwater colleagues, your BOP family stands behind you and send our deepest sympathies to you and Officer Rivera's family. For anyone interested in learning the facts about the Bureau of Prisons and the people who risk their lives on a daily basis protecting people like you, please visit www.bop.gov . To date we have a total of 201,489 inmates incarcerated Bureau wide and approximately 36,000 staff (less 1 Correctional Officer - Officer Rivera) working in the 114 Correctional Institutions across the country. To make light of this terrible tragedy isn’t only an insult to Officer Rivera and his immediate family but to his Bureau family as well. May you all sleep well tonight knowing that the men and women of our Armed Forces are not only protecting you here and abroad, but the men and women who make up the Federal Bureau of Prisons are helping protect you in your very own neighborhoods. God bless you Officer Rivera.....the 4 o’clock count today will be a solemn one I’m sure.

As long as our State has this policy of not wanting to hurt or to cause any discomfort while we execute them, incidents such as this will continue to happen. What have these low life's have to lose ? These guards risk their lives every day and the do gooders in this state just sit back and argue about the sanctity of these people's lives. Our state is doomed as long as we have this attitude.
If a person is convicted and sentenced to DEATH, get on with it. If you don't like it, move to another state. Mass. for instance, they love molesters and children making pacts to get pregnant before they are 16. Radical Liberals are killing this once great country. Notice I said Radical.
