It was a very sad story on the news last night, we all love animals, my cat came from the SPCA in Erie Co. With the gas prices and cost of living, many families can not donate anymore money, I mean - you give to the church, the fire dept, buy raffle tickets and candy bars from the kids at school, support the boy scouts who are selling hot dogs..
I have no more money....

I got my two cats from the Buffalo Animal Shelter, and my heart goes out to all those animals that have not found homes like mine have. With all the animal lovers, I think we can make a difference for these animals by just sending in a donation, no matter, how small it it. They deserve a chance. Also, kudos to all the people who take of them everyday.

Someone should call Mr. Vick and ask him to make a heathly donation to help save the ASPCA. He would be showing the world just how much contrition he has for the dogs he tortured and killed.

If every cat and dog owner would only send $1.00 per pet the shelter would have money to at least carry them for a while. I have always done that with other charities that I felt were worthwhile, but could not make a sizeable donation. Example: MADD, they asked for $20 plus, I responded I have 2 daughters and will give $1 each. If every parent did the same, the organization would have hundreds of thousands of dollars, and it would not hurt anyone of us, and we would of helped. Remember there is strength in numbers.....

If anyone wants to help out the Wyoming County SPCA and doesn't have the funds to do it, I would like to start a fundraiser. We can sell Home Interior candles. I am a consultant. The SPCA would make 50% of the profit. I make 12% that I WILL DONATE TO THE SPCA. Anyone willing to take a fundraising form and start selling candles for this great cause please email me at Darmel@netscape.com. Let's show what a great community Buffalo has!!

How heartbreaking to see all those homeless cats !
We own 13 cats and they are like children to us. All of them were adopted from various area shelters. The shelters need and deserve as much assistance as they can get.
If you can, please help these wonderful creatures by considering adoption or donation.

When you charge $60 for a cat and $70 for a dog, it's no wonder that the SPCA may have to close. Perhaps they should take some lessons from the Genesee County Animal Shelter in Batavia. (Only recently did Wyoming County decide to waive their adoption fee for cats.) Most resposible pet owners will get their pet spayed or neutered and keep them current on their vaccines. They don't need the shelter to do this for them.

Not everyone is responsible with making sure their pets are altered; that is essentially what the adoption fee is for.

Unfortunately, many younger people I know (early to mid 20s)do not have their pets fixed... and then they get out and get pregnant.

My issue, though, is with the organizations that will not pick up stray/wild cats. My friend rents an apartment/flat in Cheektowaga and there has to be 20 wild cats/kittens around her house constantly. She has called a couple of animal rescue services, but they will not come out for the cats. Every few months there are a new litter of kittens outside of her house.

Humans for the most part can help themselves and get themselves into their own crappy situations, animals cannot!

Maybe, as per their 2005 IRS 990 form, 21 paid employees were just too much to handle?

There comes a time when you have to make a decision is it worth keeping an animal alive just to keep it alive living in a cage all its life. This shelter is going under because if its so called no kill policy .. it is impossible to keep every stray alive and every stray is not adoptable and there are NOT enough homes for every animal picked up. PERIOD .this shelter is going under because they are ignorant and allow animals to suffer living in cages day in and day out . If i had to live like that i would rather not live . WAKE UP ..there comes a time when you have to humanely put an animal down. I can not stand these ignorant shelters that have a " NO KILL" policy and the animals suffer living in cages day after day bored to death miserable but hey at least they are alive ! but now because of this stupidity its going to go under ? COME ON people ... its a fact that there are NOT enough homes for all the dumped animals. So now they are in jepardy of loosing it all ? POOR MANAGEMENT IF YOU ASK ME . ITS better to save some then none!!!!!!!!!!

I give kudos to no kill shelters they give chances to animals that kill shelters dont i adopted a dog from new orleans after the hurricanes and he was sick he had heartworm and not taken care of very well by his previous owners<abused> if he had gone to a kill shelter they would have euthanized him right away instead cattaraugus county spca brought him up here they are a no kill shelter and they took care of him and we had the pleasure of adopting him and having him know love for the rest of his days hes no longer with us but atleast i know that he was happy and knew love for the last year of his life and didnt end up dying in a shelter with no one! If i could i would adopt every dog at that shelter haha
