I find it sad that things have changed so much since the time I visited Nuiqsut. I was just out of high school, and I was at the "Official" dedication of the village. I believe we (Bud and Mark Helmericks,and I) had supper with some of the Woods family. At that time, as far as the eye could see, was the slpendor of a rich,unspoiled land. I have talked about this whenever possible. Now what do I say? It was? It could have been? It will never be again? Can we learn from our mistakes ? Remind yourselves......"You can never go home". Maybe that is the reason why. When your children ask why, maybe you will have an answere for them. Maybe they will do better......It's just sad...
