This is pretty exciting and great recognition for the Erie area, I can't wait until the movie comes out. There's Hollywood, Bollywood and now

Don't these people know that reports of people watching the filming are excellent free, early press for the film? I'm sure people would be quiet and not use flash (flash bulbs? How long since anyone used flash bulbs? ha ha!) if asked.

I don't care how many "good" films he's worked on, this Ullman guy is giving this film a bad name from the get-go!

It is great to have big stars here that they would pick a place like Erie opposed to a hollywood set, but I guess it makes it more realistic for the movie. but on a different note you can not announce that some one like Viggo is in town and not expect people to go crazy to even catch a peak at him. I live right on penninsula by waldamere and i have about a good chance to see him but im not gonna sit in my window every day to see him, maybe just one or two he's HOT!!!

I agree with IRRITATE 100%. When I read Mr Ullman's comments, I was angry. You are right, people who witness movies being made are GREAT promoters for the film.
"We're not here for anyone else's entertainment. We're here to make a movie" How pompous is that statement?
He is filming in a state park, for free, for crying out loud. HE is invading Erie residents, not residents invading HIM and his film.
While Pennsylvanians are THRILLED that more and more movies are being made here, we don't appreciate this type of attitude.
Every movie set that I have visited, the crew have been more than happy to let you watch, directors and location managers included.
All you have to say is "no cameras allowed" and people are more than happy to oblige to not use "Flashbulbs" (he needs to get up to date on camera technology)
His attitude is REALLY bad press for the movie!!!

I find it amusing that Erie and Conneaut Lake Park were chosen to make a movie about a post nuclear world. Kinda says it all about the state of Erie and northwestern Pa. LOL

They filmed in Pittsburgh, California and Oregon, too. Are you going to be as quick to judge those locations like you judged Erie?

Perhaps the final shots of the film being shot at Presque Isle with it's "beaches, shorelines and panoramic views of Lake Erie that were a perfect fit" indicate that it will be some sort of happy ending.

Read the Book, Not really a "happy" ending, a Cormac McCarthy ending.

No one seems to appreciate the money a project like this brings to Erie.

Building materials, accommodations, restaurants, car and truck rental, etc.

I don't know how big the cast and crew are but each of them brings a wallet full of per diem cash.

Someone should erect a statue of the Location Manager who suggested Erie up in Perry Square.

Excuse me, I KNOW they appreciate it but don't want to be treated like 3rd class citizens.

"We're not here for anyone else's entertainment. We're here to make a movie."
Geez, can that guy get any more pretentious? You ever think of the good PR that you might get when peeople see that the movie is being filmed in the area? This guy sounds like a drama queen.
I agree that they are coming into Erie, they shouldnt act like they own the place. This plan for safety and logistics that PI state park is planning, now doesnt that involve state employees and state tax money?

Kristin - The powers that be in Erie want to turn it into a tourist town. No manufacturer will come here anymore because instead of helping them, the city gives them a tax bill before the ink is dry. The weather here will never support tourism unless you want to host a penguin convention. Erie is in an economic death spiral. Has been for years. People are migrating south where business owners are not punished for doing business. In 10 years Erie will be a ghost town.

How about a flotilla of boats anchored off the beach fishing? Is the Coast Guard gonna chase out of their camera shots?
Good point Smedley! This pompous location manager will probably try.

I can not wait to see this movie. It is so cool to have famous actors and actresses in our city of Erie. I have seen Lord Of The Rings and Viggo was great in that. I love that movie and I probably will love this one too.

Is the Roadhouse or the Erie Book Store hosting a Viggo Mortensen reading?

The guy is a talented writer, too.

Support the poets!

The people of erie, if they chose to, could not make a difference at the box office. He is also speaking as a boss who is trying to get work done. Did you want them to build a float and parade around town?

"We're not here for anyone else's entertainment. We're here to make a movie"

WTH! And by the way, what's the latest on that bear lerking around at PI?

I hope it walks up behind him and bites him right in his pompous ass.
