A nice place to visit but ...

For the past 17 months or so - at least every time I tell people I moved back to Burlington from the coast of North Carolina - they tilted their heads and contorted their faces a touch.

One overlooks those issues when true love of the sea, the sand, the beach and the sound are there. My wife bows in like a bad storm occasionally, but I still wouldn't live anywhere else

People have lost their minds! I was born and raised on this island and it bites. I spent years trying to leave, and I am very happy to have done so! It was okay until all the "ditdots" thought they were being cool and bought land that was in the families for years! To all the Yankees who think they are being cool...lol watch out because the islanders are not as friendly as you think!!

20 yrs. ago, i made the same move. Even though i occasinally regret the loss of atomosphere & environment, i still realize that i am on solid ground. Nice place to visit, but more practical to be a tourist.
