I wouldn't worry about the winter. with the smoking ban, and other casinos open and others soon to be open, Atlantic City will soon revert to the wasteland it once was. It's day has come and gone.

We have been to Vegas twice in lieu of AC. We used to drive up there 3-4 times a year only because it was a little more convenient for us. But we haven't felt the "love" from the casino's in AC that would compel us to return any time soon. They need to start focusing on their customer base first, the bottom line improvements will follow.

you really think so? I know the casinos are busy right now, but it does make ya wonder what will happen when the kids are back in school and mom and dad stay home...do the casinos close early? only open thursday friday sat and sun? who pays the bills during the week to keep those joints open? |

I've been going to A,C. for years, For a while it was doing well, showing signs of improvement on the upswing. But the last few times I was there it appeared to be going to the dogs. for the most part the casinoes seemed to be less attentive to people and seedier. The area as a whole appeared to be less attended. It just looked as though it was "Gasping for air". Now, with this new No Smoking law, It is a killing blow.. Yes, I do believe it has had it's 15 minutes of fame... |

As usual, we see a silly question---posted with some sort of purpose in mind---evoke ignorant answers from people who also seem to have an ax to grind. Your own little personal surveys and observations are not relevant. Atlantic City has long since reached "critical mass," and although it may have "down" periods (just as Las Vegas does), it ain't goin' no where. So, if you lost money the last few times your were here, or you didn't get a comp or a free umbrella, why express your feelings by not returning to a particular casino instead of sounding ridiculous to thousands of other people who know better.

WOW probably the most ignorant posts ever. Think about what you guys are saying? This place is not going anywhere, infact its far from it. The best has yet to come. I dont think any of you have been to these casinos lately. Its completely changed Atlantic City has become HIP again, thats what it needs the only thing killing it is the economy, and guess what? THE ECONOMY IS KILLING EVERYTHING! So get your heads out of you know where and wake up, and enjoy.

1 i think the poll would have been better if the survey asked, will casinos survive the economy. I love atlantic city and i am so glad to have it close to us in all directions, i hate the racinos, especially yonkers, they are the ones that will disapear. I agree AC will reinvent itself, and i hope for bigger and better casinos to take over the whole state of NJ, not just AC. But getting back to the poll, it's true that casino's revenue is based soley on disposable income., not just for gambling, but for rooms and shows ect. the same way las vegas is...but i am worried about the economy and we have as a family cut back our trips to AC, cause we really can't afford it anymore. AC has become a very expensive place to have fun. I think the young kids, who have a part time job, live at home with mom and dad can still make the trips on a routine basis, but honestly as much as i love AC. i can't see myslf going every month anymore. |

The Economy, Other state casinos, Gas Prices, Smoking ban, City traffic, raising prices. ALL reasons many ( including myself ) people are avoiding AC. It will not get any better for a LONG time..
The city and State should be doing things to help them out instead of throwing road blocks at them all the time like the smoking ban and raising their taxes.. |

Lets be real...all the blacks in A.C. that are committing all sorts of crime daily are what's killing A.C.

Thats a very racial comment. There is excessive crime in any city that houses casinos. Its not just AC and thats why residents fight in the beginning to keep casinos out. |
Thank you Judie777, I am black, i contribute to Atlantic City with gambling money, buying drinks, tip at the restaurants and hotels, i don't know of too many blacks who are cheap when it comes to giving back to the community and state. There are good guys and bad guys in every color, race, and creed. I'm not sure about the economy either, if it's affecting whites, can you imgaine what it is doing to minorities. We all have had a fair share of bad times. Lets be together on this and hope for better times. |

well said. i agree completely. |

Dear sugar, i can assure you that "TRUTH" from Richmond Va. does not speak for all of us on this forum. i being white have lived and worked along side some amazing black people, they have been more generous, kind then most people that i have know. |

Absolutely true! I, in managing retail stores for 21 years, survived 4 armed robberies. Only ONE out of the 4 were black. That may not mean much to some of you, but since it was in a predominently black neighborhood it IS a neat truth. There's a LOT of nasty people out here that are NOT black. |
