What is the most gambling story you have witnessed in a casino? I have never seen a megamillions jackpot but did see a 250,000 winner in ceasars AC high roller slot room once. For tables I did see about 5.000.000 million in chips many years ago in trump plaza at a craps game (I truly don't know what he started with) However,I have seen 3-400,000 dollar win at a black jack table at Borgata (High Limit room with water feature).IN addition,I was talking to a dealer(also in borgata high limit room) and he said the most he ever paid out,in 4 years was about a million to a boozed up guy.As far as losses I don't think anyone will beat the asian gentleman you can goolgle who is in court trying to get back money he lost at ahaarah's property in las vegas (12 million) BUT I believe he has lost 100.000.000 over the years(search by his last name Wantanabe)Again what is your favorite gambling story?
ps One funny story I heard from a casino guard in vegas was when he worked the grave shift and all was quiet except when a lady with no cloths was walking thru the casino. The guard told me they ran for a blanket-she was sleepwalking!!

Although I have been frequenting casinos for the last 30 years
the most i ever saw anyone Hit a jackpot for was $ 25,000 on a
$5.00 Three Reel QuickFire Cash machine. I was in the Borgata
the same day that someone won $ 150,000 on a 2 cent Monopoly
Progressive machine but i did not witness it - my wife said there
was a large crowd of people around the machine so she couldn't see
much - it was a mature gentleman that won. I have made some decent hits over the years but neither my wife nor I have ever won the TOP
Jackpot on any machine - come to think of it the only time i have seen all the jackpot SYMBOLS come up, the person was not playing
MAX. Credits so they only won the 2 coin payout not the max. credit
3 coin payout.

In fact Top jackpot is so rare in AC, i wonder if the word "top jackpot" is even in the dictionary?
A lot of people would like to see the rare a little more well done!

WOW!! that is an amazing confession to make, that after 30 years of frequenting AC, the most you personally witnessed was a $25,000. "peanut" jackpot and only heard of a 150,000 while down there.
That's worse then saying you played the lottery for 30 years every day and only heard of one winner in the entire state!!
What Sh&t full odds those mega casinos must offer to the unsuspecting public..how horrible those mathematical odds of ever winning the top prize must be and yet millions of us continue to dump money into those cash cow progressives while the big exes draw their million dollar paycheck jackpots every year...could you imagine..that after 30 years... how much you of a jackpot you or i would have if we never placed a dollar in those slots? and instead placed it in a safety deposit box or under the mattress!
I heard that most of the casino workers on the floor day in and day out after years of emplyment have never witnessed a progressive jackpot payout, odds are they should have at least once....YUK!

I think as far as slots are concerned they have to be looked at for purely for entertainment (not that the table games are a "investment".Video poker, with no huge jackpot, gives you some time to enjoy.High limit slots need a huge bankroll but 1200 to 4000 are fairly common from what I see.I love those people who say they treat a casino (budget wise) like a night out for dinner and a show. How do you bring a couple of hundred dollars and make it last a night. Two or three hundred could get wiped out within a hour EASY.That is the thing people frequent casino gamblers are thinking (who did not get trustfund)The after tax money is so hard to make one really thinks twice before blowing thousands. But what do I know the casinos seem pretty busy when I am there.I did not really change my bankroll but only go every 3 months for a break

yeah your right high limit slots are usually around 1200-4000 wins, after of course you look at their faces with that expressionless stare they have with the bells ringing and yet they should be happy, but you know they dropped much more then that to win those high limit mini jackpots.
But like you said what do i know, the casinos are packed on the weekend and people still dream, go figure.

From listening to the dialogue in this forum the new Mini Jackpot
of 1200 to 4000 may be what casinos have replaced the actual jackpots with ? It would be nice to hear from someone who has witnessed higher jackpots. It was not always this way in AC = i have witnessed $ 15K and I have won $ 15k several times and have
seen $ 10K,$9K,$6K etc. and this is going back to 2006 however
after Fall 2008 everything changed and now to see a Jackpot is very rare - lets hear from others who have experienced the same thing !

I agree,I don't think they switched all the computor programs, however, many of the reel machines etc have been replaced over those years with all the 1Cent 5 cent multi line games where you keep winning except it is often for less then you wager. All these type machines are not really gambling but rather a pay to play. The funny thing is they say in six hour gambling session 6 out of ten people have more money then they walked in with (could be a little or alot) However 9 out of ten leave losers?

BILL = you hit the nail on the head re: the 1 cent, 2 cent , nickel
machines = someone called them CORPORATE SLOT MACHINES because they
are expensive to play but don't pay out anywhere near what the old
3 reel quater machines would pay. They tell you how many lines you can play and how many credits per line but the machines are
very secretive about how much you can win by playing those combinations whereas the olde 3 reel machines have it posted for all to see. This was a definite case of collusion between the slot machine manufacturers Ballys, IGT, etc. and the Casinos -
the Slot Mfgrs found a way to sell all new machines & boost their
business and the Casinos in turn offer the public new machines
which are 100% geared to the casino making most if not all of the profit. I am hoping that the public gets wise to this SCAM and
avoids these low denomination machines so that we can go back to the 25 cent, 50 cent, 1.00 machines again = at least these machines
have decent payouts and you know exactly where you stand when playing.

Slot Lady = yes that happens, next time either of you get a Big Hit
ask for a CHECK for 2/3rds of the amount & the other 1/3rd in CASH = the Suits get pissed off but they have to give it to you that way
if you ask for it = this way you play off the 1/3rd and take the CHECK back home with you = it works, my wife & i have both done it.
It does help if you hit 1/2 way thru your stay or on your last day
because it makes it easier to leave with the money.

JArruda,
You are so on point The 1/2/5 and even the stupid 1/2 cent machines are so confusing and crazy .The joke is that they are so expensive to play. Most players are playing 7.50 to 12.50 per spin easy. They should head to the high limit room and play a old two coin 5.00 slot.As far as protecting a win,it really does matter when you hit (table or slot) Think about winning even 1000.00 when you first arrive-If you are staying overnight what are you going to do the rest of the trip?(Probably not worth playing much until the 2nd day)SO a early win does not mean much and worse-if you lose early in your stay-real bad. However,a hit a hour or so before you leave presents a good opportunity to go home a winner. The check idea is great.I think looking back you take 8.000 for sure. Then take a break. Then late or next day start
again with 1500.00 or so.Everybody has given back winnings, but over the years you try and have some discipline. It is nice to wake up at home with that money.Think of it this way -if you stayed in AC for a couple of days and did everything and wound up even-that's not so bad.never mind thousands of dollars.Slot lady we appreciate your honesty and nobody is better then you or husband.Just thoughts from some of us who did has given back wins and did not like the long drive back North on the parkway

BILL = you said it = if you can play for TWO days and go home
with the same money you brought down with you, then in my book you are a WINNER because you got 2 days worth of entertainment for Free = you've built slot dollars for next trip, your comps paid for food and the only out-o-pocket is Tips = not bad at all !

Congrats to all of you who can leave with either their original money intact or even better some profit most of the time, but we know that is simply not true.
The past few years especially the Borgata all of 2007-2009 it has been very hard to leave with any profit and even more difficult to leave with your original money in hand..
I guess you can say the casinos do psych people out with a moderate win at first to get your blood pumping,(we have all experienced it) they know the psychology /" Damn!!! If i had only played max bet" or "'if i had only started playing this machine first"...
then we all fall into the same deadly trap of trying to make the wins happen again then start to chase our losses..
That's were they (casino managers) sit waiting in bushes (the eye in the sky camera room and watch our actions and habits) they wait salivating for the kill...
They know each one of our mind sets and habits via our players card and via the camera eyes, and they know how to show a little teaser win to get most of us hooked. They are so good at it...
damn if i was only that good at grabbing other peoples money....
i wouldn't be here typing away..........

ACJ - i think you are implying a little too much of a "Big Brother"
is watching 1984 scenario however you are dead on about the Borgata
from late 2007 till now - Borgata and others in AC have gone into
a LOCKDOWN mode which means the machines are set for the lowest
legal payout possible with just a few teasers thrown in.

JA i might sound a little Erie speaking of the eye in the sky, but those little black balls in the ceiling are not just for cheaters and employees, there really is technically nothing to steal as far as merchandise on a casino floor, while true it surveillance primary purpose is to watch cheaters, especially at the tables, including the dealers there's more to it..let me explain..i know you will enjoy this info that i rarely share with anyone.
There is much truth about casinos tracking your every move across the casino floors using your card, they watch and discuss each players habits: in one documentary i think 20/20 one casino in Las Vegas uses a physical heat graph to alert the casino marketing as to which areas draw the bigger crowds, what time of day therefor they adjust the wins and losses appropriately.
The card if a player uses it works similar in that it contains all the info as to where you played what machines you prefer and for how long, they compile this data and form your profile for marketing purposes, it is not a mishap that some get beach umbrellas and others get invited to bingo, some get cash on a Friday and others during the Monday, it is a very serious and calculating game to the casinos and marketers, the more cash they bring into a casino the bigger and juicer their bonus.
Now here is the part i promised:
I remember i used a particular casino for it's free bee rooms and food after a $5000. gambling splurge, it lasted about 3 weeks of free rooms and was cut off without explanation. they kept saying sorry we are full we have no rooms available in the dead of winter, midweek..HMMMM, and they said "we show that you have visited us three times in the past month and showed no play"..I stated that i did not use my card..they would not budge..
Here;s the eye opener if you can bear with me:
the casinos do watch your every move..
I borrowed a marker, from one Atlantic city casino years back as i had done many times and always paid them back never a day late, you have approx 2 weeks to pay them back (under a certain amount) or it is withdrawn from your checking automatically, that's how markers work, they loan you interest free no fee up front.
Well one day i noticed that no one was winning in this particular casino, so i decided to leave and go to another casino with the marker down the boardwalk, a day later mind you..in one day i got a call from my slot host, i thought he was inviting me to a great dinner or something from my terrific play all year..
NO: instead he called to scold me outright because he said i was seen by unnamed sources taking a marker from them and not gambling around the casino and then leaving to another casino....
OK, i asked whats wrong with that? if i borrow the money from you guys and decide i want to gamble somewhere else you still get your marker payed back on time in two weeks as agreed! RIGHT?
WRONG!!! his reply NO casino markers from us are to be used outside our casino, if you leave you must pay it back before or gamble in our house..
To this day i have never stepped foot in that AC casino and it is one that is in serious financial trouble, I closed the marker account and never spoken with that slot host again...
So call it big brother! call it conspiracy thinking! whatever you wish..but they DO watch their best players and maybe their average players as well ... very very closely.

CWY = thank you for the enlightening story - I believe you - it makes you wonder = if they have that much control over you then
do they also have the power to change the SLOT payouts on an individual machine anywhere in the casino by a remote electrical signal to the machines payout computer program ???
Its scary when you think about it - my father years ago used to get
free Rooms at the old SANDS when it was open and went there for years , then he cut back slightly on his monthly trips and all of a sudden he was no longer getting free rooms.

CWY = i wud like to add one more thing = my wife & I have been loyal customers to the Borgata since they opened in 2003 but because we had no WINS at all in 3 consecutive trips, we only went ONCE this year and my wife's Black Card just expired. Borgata
did nothing at all to give us any special inducement to come back even though we gamble thousands of dollars with them every year.
Our Host ( who was laid off) told us in private that Borgata is
catering to a different AGE group and we are not in it, so she said
they will probably let you fall by the wayside and she was right !
My card expires at the end of this year and i have no intention of going back to Borgata. I will wait until REVEL eventually opens
or i might go back to Caesars someday - Caesars sends us lucrative
offers everymonth to come back.

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Leo

Be choosy about who you spend time with today. If you're with someone who's habitually miserable or sorry for themselves, you'll soon be dragged down to their level and will struggle to recover again. However, you may feel such sympathy for their plight that you don't see you have any choice but to be with them. If so, do your best to remain positive.
