Ruben Rosario: At least she knows where deadbeat dad is -- in jail

Full story: TwinCities.com

It took nearly two decades, but Lorayne Axtell, of West St. Paul, finally got some measure of satisfaction, if not delayed justice, last week.

It's a shame that we have to chase deadbeats around for a piddly $41,000. It had to cost much more than that just to bring this Bozo to justice, and the meter will be running all the time he is locked up, in the unlikely event that he is given any time at all. This jerk victimized his Ex, his son, and the government and should have to pay it all back.

Once again we only hear one side of the story. I see that there is no information from the child support office in this article. And what is the child support office supposed to do about his embezzelment charge? They are not law enforcement. Seems like law enforcement didn't care enough to try to extradict this clown until the last article. I don't seem them taking any of the heat.

Yes, the guy is a deadbeat loser and didn't do anything to support his kid but he is also a criminal. Maybe Rueben should question why law enforcement did nothing until now???

Unfortunately, one can only be extradited if it is written by the judge- not law enforcement.

Why do we only hear about men, I know there are women during the same thing. But we always write stories about the men.
I know for a fact the system protect women. When I got custody of my kids. Ramsey County proposed, she pay no child support and carry health insurance. When I denied their proposal and asked for a hearing, they allowed her to apply for welfare and get it. When the hearing came, she was protected by law. You do not have to pay support if you are receiving welfare, general assistant or social security. When I didn't have custody. Ramsey County had me paying more than 49% of my take home wages. Isn't something how they create their own loophole. So who's fooling who...?

If she didn't have custody of the kids how the heck did she manage to get welfare? I'm not saying she didn't I'm just asking how she managed to do it. It's always seemed to me that counties couldn't care less if you drop dead and die if you didn't have kids.

So not true. Women get all of the breaks. I'm a woman but I hate sorry women. Especially the ones that use their kid as just a pawn and a paycheck. A lot of them receive child support and still get assistance from the state because they don't want to work.

Of course this is not all women but I know of quite a few that while yes they have the kids but they are deadbeats still.

The only way they looked for this guy for 20 years is if she kept pursuing it,it would have died on its own otherwise,so i have to ask,did she spend 20 years worrying about that pos instead of counting herself well rid and going on with her life? They didnt pursue it of their own voilition.

Maybe so but my point was, what is the child support office supposed to do with that information? I also find it interesting that they only pursued extracition once the original article was written. No one is blaming law enforcement for their lack of effort. I find that interesting.

You are right and that's unfortunate. Men get the shaft when it comes to child support.

In this particular case perhaps the guy had the money and was purposely avoiding any payment whatsoever, but that is not the case with most. Like you mentioned, they take an excessive amount of your pay and some guys can not afford a home for themselves or necessities. Some are able to make it work, but it certainly isn't a fair system.

Also, don't think that jail time isn't involved, I know men who were jailed because they got behind and couldn't pay because of job loss or other circumstances. And in case anyone is wondering, jail time does not produce money if you don't have it, just sayin.

I know a woman married to a multi-millionaire, has two grown kids, married with children of their own, and she is still pursuing her ex for back support.

Talk about bitter.

Exactly! I'm certainly not saying that custodial parents should not receive help from the ex with their kids. But all things should be within reason.

One of my husbands friends was getting killed in child support for 2 kids. The friend was remarried and he and his wife had a lovely home. The guy worked 2 jobs. One was a 8-5 and then a lawn service on the side. Please keep in mind that this man had his sons with him every chance he got. He was by no means a deadbeat. Also paid of course for med insurance school clothes, braces etc.

Can you believe this chick got pissed when the oldest son turned 16 and tried to get yet another "raise" and was denied. The judge wanted to know why is it that in all of these years she only worked part time? He told her instead of pursing the dad that she could now put that effort into full time work.

LOL! She became so pissed that she started screaming in the courtroom "He has a nice new home","He has a second business too". Funny as hell!

How shameful!

18 years ago when i went to court to get child support for my 2 year old daughter, even though the mother agreed to pay, we still had to go thru the courts for it to be legit, they treated me like crap...back then they would just say; "men in this side, women on that side". when i would go to the womens side, because i was the petitioner, the bailifs would rudely try and send me to the other side....and when i explained i was the petitioner, they still acted shitty. once we were in the court room, the advocate in a very snotty voice tried to tell me that side was for the women trying to get child support. i once again explained i was the petitioner. did she offer me any assistance? nope....by the time i got in front of the judge i was steaming. when the judge asked me if i had anything i would like to say, i went off..lol...i was in the middle of explaining how shitty i had been treated as a man with custody of my daughter by her court room apointees. after about 5 minutes of me ranting she threatened to lock me up in contempt. nice huh? all this time now my daughters mom was there with me agreeing to pay support and they still acted like i had some nerve. now my youngest daughter, who is 6, i have custody of her and me and her mom have been to court as well. i have been treated much better this time around. but she did have to spend 3 days in jail because she is 3 grand behind and she didnt show up to her order to show cause hearing. and the lady judge was very sympathetic(and hot) and put a capias out for her with a 1000 dollar purge. anyway, thats my story.

I live in the town where the deadbeat was apprehended. He lives in a nice (rented) house with a wife, who works, and three small children. His story is that he sold a business "up north" and that he's semi-retired. He volunteers at the kids' school and seems very attentive. Likes to bs a lot, but nice enough. Needless to say, we were shocked to see his face on Ramsay's Most Wanted page and to learn he's got other kids he hasn't supported. And for all of you who think men are victims in the child support game---that's not the point. The point is, you don't abandon your children. Your problem with the courts and your ex is a separate issue. If you don't use protection and you produce a child, you need to be there for that child so the rest of us don't have to pay for your "mistakes" either literally or by having a damaged, unparented human being running around.

I feel for all of you....or any parent that is supporting a child without any help form the absent parent.
And no matter what...it is and ugly, ugly world on both sides of the fence.
But,..I never thought I'd see the day women would have to pay support. But in todays world...more Dad's have custody of their children,..than Mom's do...And this new breed of Mom's believe that they gave birth...{ & generally a c-section}...and that is ALL they are suppose to do. No loving caring nurturing, supporting...nope,.."I gave birth that is all I have to do.".....It really has become a sad sad sight of parents in todays world.....I wonder whom will get the kids in the next generation...the dog?

This is why ABORTION IS THE ANSWER. Whenever some skank gets knocked up from a night of drug or alcohol fueled monkey sex the TRIBUNAL shall instruct the local republican religious right to drop the protest signs and leave the latest abortion clinic rally and hurry to the wanton harlots house where she will be stoned until she aborts.

God loves you.

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Scorpio

Let the past stay in the past for now. Even though you may have fond memories of intense experiences, the Virgo Moon sees to it that you have virtually no desire to go there again just yet. This is your opportunity to show others what you can do in a more civilised environment. Don't try to shout down someone who is rude enough to interrupt. As unlikely as it may seem, the softest voice has the biggest chance of being heard today.
