The elders passed and now I think there are two locations still in Jax (not on Main, though). Still very good. Real BBQ with a fantastic mustard based sauce. My second choice would be Jenkins. Oh I know Cottons, I been eating there since day one. Jenkins I have a problem with because I used to work down from the one on Old Kings, sometime the food from there was debatable.(and questionable!) Most so called BBQ today is just roasted or grilled meat, then they give you something that looks like ketchup for sauce to pour on so it will have some kinda taste. That aint BBQ.

In my opinion, Willard's Bar-B-Que Junction just opened on Roosevelt, and I think that they have the best in town.

Cotton's is really good. I haven't been to Jenkins in a while, so I'll have to give them another try. I agree with you. A lot of "BBQ" places rely on the sauce for flavor, and so you might not notice how dry it is. Please.

You all need to try Tree-Mendous BBQ off of Herlong Rd. close to Normandy or their new restaurant that opened a week or so ago off of 220 and 209 and Gator's BBQ off of Baymar St between Cahoon RD. and Beaver St. They make their own sauces, both have excellent food cooked and prepared in the restaurant, friendly service, and both are local family owned and operated. They give you plenty of meat, no skimping at either place and if you have catering needs they both offer great prices and food for all of your party needs.

Tree-Mendous BBQ and Gators BBQ both smoke their meat and it is extremely juicy and full of flavor even without sauces.

Cottons bbq is good as long as you don't get robbed or accosted by a hooker in the parking lot. They are in a horrible location. Tree-Mendous and Gators are in safer locations, they are cleaner, offer a better variety, friendlier service, and, at least I think, use better meat and has more flavor.

You know it's people like you that spread stupid rumors like this, I am a Truck driver that delivers to most of the Sonny's BBQ and we send them product that is cooked and prepared at each location and that is a fact in fact just look inside their kitchen and you will see their smokers cooking away, And that's a fact!!!!
