Fouke City Council

[Council watcher]

Now that the Mayors race is over we need to concentrate our efforts on the City Coucil. They can make or break the City. We need to call them often and show up at all City Council meetings. Let them know how you feel about all issues including the cult on the hill. I hope there will be some good ones on the coucil but lets not let our guard down.

I for one agree with you. The council are your representatives .They should speak the will of the people. But it IS up to the people to watch over them and see that the people's will is carried out.You can only do this by going to council meetings.
If you don't, and things don't go your way, you've no one to blame but yourselves.

PS. Don't feel bad about the spelling. It happens to all of us, although some people do delight in making people feel bad about their spelling. Sometimes your fingers just get moving too fast, because the words keep coming out of your mouth too fast.

Why in the world would the council vote not to let Terry go to the Ark. Municipal League meeting? How stupid! That is an awesome way to meet other city members and network. I guess it just goes to show that Terry is going to have his hands full when he takes office in January!

If TP wants to do things the LEGAL and RIGHT way he will think twice about taking the money from the GOOD citizens of Fouke to attend the conference. Especially when it could be seen as a BRIBE. He should pay it out of his own pocket if he is so interested in educating himself on being a good mayor. Then he can not owe anyone anything when it comes time for decisions.

I was at the meeting last night and I was so ashamed of the way Terry Purvis was treated. He asked for the city to pay for him to attend the Arkansas Municipal League in Little Rock so he could be brought up to date on what is happening NOW. He didn't ask to stay in the same hotel (the Peabody) as everyone else. He said he would stay in a cheap one as long as roaches were not running up the walls. I think Mc Ferrin, Hardin, Upton and Edwards acted very HUM can't seem to find the right word. The money needed for him to go was only about $200.00 and it would bring him up to date. I don't understand why the council membrs want to stay so in the past. The money belongs to Fouke. It is not their personal money. We will get Terry to Little Rock and he won't have to stay in a cheap motel. He is the mayor of Fouke and I for one don't think he deserves to be treated second class. I would like for the other mayors there to know that Fouke cares about its mayor and for him to represent Fouke and be proud. We need to remember in 2 years when the election comes up who votes for the people and who votes for themselves. They are voted in, they can be voted out.

i have read it all now. i sat in a amazment lastnight watching this so called elected officials, which was more of a circus. i think there will be a movie in the works. the life and times of a bunch of fools.

I don't remember saying anything about giving Terry any money. I think I said the people of Fouke would pay his way and treat him like a mayor should be treated. I'm not at all surprised at your comment. I expect people like you to be looking for anything to try to make it appear Terry can be Bought. NOT SO. He won't know who does anything therefore he won't feel he owes anyone anything. Wish I could say the same about what alamo gave and expected. I said the people of Fouke. I am going to say this once and you all better listen and listen good. Frank McFerrin would NEVER knowingly support a known cult member. This is all hearsay and gossip. I've been thinking about this all day and I would like for any of you to explain to me if you can. Why wouldn't the council agree for Terry to go to Little Rock? It will save the city money in the long run. Is Terry going to have to put up with this attitude from Philip and T O? I understand the man from the compound just sitting there but I don't understand Mrs Upton. She is new and she could have spoken up and said she would like to go and learn more about how to represent her city. Cody Williams said he would like to go and I think it would be good for him. Terry will need to stay up with the changing times. Fouke can't stay like it is now. The new interstate is coming through and things will change. I would aslo like to know why To was so against the survey at the alamo compound. Mr Clements has worked hard and he needs encouragement and we aneed to stay with him. The streets belong to the city. The alamo people have no right to block a city street. They should be made to remove the gates and any houses that are sitting on city streets. I would like to say thanks to Mr Clements and Pastor Mixon for the way they conducted themselves last night. They conducted themselves like a council member should.
Lets let them know we support them.

Terry was just trying to play by the rules but there are plenty of people who will write a check for that small amount of money and never miss it. I for one will be glad to. I answer to none of those puppets who sit on that board.
Fouke City Counsel members thinks 200.00 would break the piggy bank.
