The D.S.S. will help illegals , but don,t want to help people who need medical care and food that are legal Americans . They are rude to you when you apply and make you feel like you are less than human. Macon , Mo. is the worst . You get sick and you have to wait or die . When you go to Macon hospital emergency room , they rob you , even if you can,t pay , they will turn you over to collection agency . When the state of Missouri cuts people off medicaid who have had stokes and need meds to live and can,t work there is a problem with the system .

I am going to assume that this post was in result to an unfortunate experience that you may have had. I personally can say that DSS assists ALL that qualify under current legistlation and criteria as they have NO choice. DSS does not intentionally cut you off or end your Medicaid if you quailfy unless you are been uncooperative.

katwomansrevenge is right about one thing.
There is a personnel problem at D.S.S. in Macon. I live in Macon and can say from personal experience as a disabled person that one staff member patronizes her clients on a regular basis. She once screamed some of my personal information across the office because she thought it was amusing. I was not amused. That information was confidential.
And don't mistake my meaning. I know this was a violation of procedure.
I am not the only person I know to have been patronized by this employee.
I hope you are doing well in KC and never need to come back here because of misfortune. This could be YOUR caseworker.

I have had problems with a Macon County D.S.S worker myself. She has been very rude and trys to make you fell like you a a low life. I have turned her in several times and she is still there. Once she even took one of my children off of MC+ left the other 2 on and did not even tell me. How I found out the pharmacy told me. Now how is that correct. TO me it is aginst the law to remowe one and leave 2 other kids on. And she did not even get in trouble and I was a a big medical bill out of my pocket, and a pharmacy bill and they would not D.S.S would not give me my money back. I wonder if we are talking about the same case worker? She is a older lady.

I also have had problems with the D.S.S. in Macon. I don't know what is wrong with some of the caseworkers in that office BUT it needs to change. These people work with a vulnerable population. They need to advocate for them and do THEIR JOB! I felt harassed by one of the workers as I was always recieving Fraud papers in the mail about every other week....Maybe they do this to everyone BUT I don't think so. I hope that I never need assitance through this office again.

My wife and I have been dealing with D.S.S. September. My 16 year old daughter went to the highschool counselor to complain about not having a drivers license or a cellular phone. The teachers and counselors today are trained to call D.S.S. over every little complaint just to be safe. They don't realize that social workers are trained to believe that for every complaint, there is something 1000 times worse going on. So, a social worker shows up and writes a completely false report on us. My daughter swears that she never made claims of sexual abuse, but the social worker is claiming such abuse. Eventhough there is no evidence, no arrest, and none of my three children have been taken away, they want to put me on a list. At the D.S.S. appeal, they wouldn't accept my wife's or daughter's testimonies that they did not make such claims, but the social worker says that they are liars. The appeal panel accepted the social worker's word over everyone else. A police officer that accompanied the social worker is even a witness on our side that the social worker (Kelli Hodge) has falsified the report. Still the battle goes on and they want to put me on a list based on lies. We did a background check on Kelli Hodge and found that she has used more than one social security number and has a medical history of migrains and head injuries. I'm prepared to go to the press and reveal the criminal history of Kelli Hodge and the injustice that has unraveled. Kelli should have never been given a job where she can do so much harm. Furthermore, Kelli doesn't have any qualifications. Our background check revealed that she was unemployed no more than 8 months prior to our case. Her grammar skills make it questionable whether she even has a highschool education.
