There is way to much drama in these forums. I just moved here with my family, and to tell you the truth it makes me want to move back down state. So let me get this straight, not only is the ambulance company run by a lying crook but our M.E. is a drug user? Too crazy! I love these small towns!

Our M.E. is NOT a drug user! I know him personally and can attest to the fact that is not true. He may have done some of the same stupid stuff the rest of us did as kids, but that is way far back in the past. He is a good guy with a great family and a respectable business.

Someone is just trying to stir the pot and be an asshole.

As for the EMS.. they just need to stop the internal bullshit they have going on up there and remember what they are really there for, to serve the community and save lives. Why don't you people do something more constructive with your time? Don't you realize how people must think of you and your neighbors here reading this CRAP? I find it hard to believe that there is this much interest in Atlanta Mi. Granted most of what I am reading is negative, but if turned into a positive forum this could be the greatest thing that has happened to our town in a LONG time. Yes our town is declining but do you know why and what can you do to help? The questions have been asked; Why do we have all the empty businesses in town? Why don’t we have a nice evening restaurant in town? Why do we only have 1 grocery store here? Why does our town look shabby? Why doesn’t the Chamber do this or that and why does the Elk Fest suck? Lets start with loosing and NOT gaining businesses. One advantage we have is the beauty of our community as far as the Thunder Bay river and the backwaters, it is also a deficit as Atlanta is in the bottom of a valley so all the crap runs DOWNHILL into our town, we have major gas under our town from years of leakage from OLD gas stations etc. so the DEQ and DNR watches us closely. The only way a new business can come into our town is to put in an expensive above ground septic field and have it pumped numerous times a year, NOT going to happen. Even the old buildings will have to do this to reopen, NOT going to happen--ask Chatter he owns the old Elk Horn market and can’t do anything with it. Atlanta desperately needs a sewer system and much more, as we have NO info structure here at all. Now, you ask why? Atlanta is not a town, city, or village, and as you know everything is controlled by Briley Twp. Because of this, Atlanta can’t afford what is desperately needed and because Atlanta is nothing we don’t qualify for any government grants to build an info structure to attract new business and improve what we do have. Our federal government is picking up the tab in many small communities but not for us. We are paying federal income taxes to put systems in other states but not here in Atlanta. There has been recent research by people to incorporate the VILLAGE of Atlanta, which is totally doable with more volunteers. As everything else we need more people to quit complaining and jump in and volunteer to help rebuild our community, it needs everybody’s help. This is the same with the Chamber and the Elk Fest they need volunteers. So much is being done by so few, and the few are tired because they’ve been doing it so long w/o help. So quit complaining and try giving back to your community. If there is good response from this I will post more later on how to get involved.

you've got to be kidding, to say they live like "rats", to state she is a pig, grow up, jealousy sucks, obviously you have a touch of it. that "pig" is my good friend, who has been thru a hell of alot. picked herself and children up when struck with tragedy. to say such awful things about a great person, shame on you.

not if the things r true what does tragedy have to with living like a slob? my guess is whoever typed the "rats" comment has seen the conditons they "live" in but that's only a guess and as far as picked herself up what did she do? married a guy who cheated on her and bullies her kids oh but now we're back to him being a bad coach again r'nt we?

i have been to their home many times, never would i consider calling them slobs, lived in yes, if toys on the floor, backpacks on couch mean being slobs, then i guess anyone out there with a family would be offended, cheating/beatings all nonsense somebody out there making accusations, maybe before putting such things on here, one should get their facts correct.

You should see what they do with kids who go to ball games with non-alcoholic fathers. Fathers whose career makes it impossible to stay up to date with the latest in alcohol beverage trendy trends.

You probably heard of the professor who took Jr. to a Detroit Tiger game and unbeknownst to him, bought Jr. a drink with booze in it? "Mike's Hard Lemonade"?

The kid was whisked away by ambulance (do you know what those are?) taken to an E.R. where he was tested and found to have ZERO blood alcohol, then forcibly put into foster care. All because dad is a career man and professor whose professional obligations keep him distanced from media and marketing trends.

I can't IMAGINE what children from a known, former pot smoking parent who lives in a dirty house that looks lived in might get.

I shudder to think.

But then again, it's all in who you are and who you know. Not what type of parent you are. Really.

It's helpful when in the course of conducting autopsy, to be straight, and not fresh out of an environment of filth.

Average citizens lose their children for the very same reasons that y'all admit about this professional.

His profession my some day require him to make the finding of a cause of death of a child and he might get the wrong finding causing a grieving family to lose their other children. Because he's a doper?
