Just finished reading an article in the Tribune about Briley Audit.
Why is an audit going to cost three times as much as usual?
Why was the audit over due?
If the law says there has to be an audit, why wasn't it already done?

What goes on in that Office? Does anyone do their Job?

Zick used to do audit and refused to continue doing it. The Bi-annual audit was due in October by then Treasurer's Rose & Bruno, they failed to do it. State sent warning letter that they were in violation. New board needs to get it done ASAP and also make sure everything is in order. The accountant's are stopping their normal tax season work to expedite the audit for the state, that's the reason it's so expensive.

Also makes you wonder why Zick refused to do it, doesn't it?

Well, just the facts. Only one firm replied to Supervisor's request for bid. He claims the others didn't respond. I wonder if procedures were followed in seeking bids. When $6,000 has to be spent I would think the BOARD would want several to choose from and not go with just one!

This would all be a moot point if Rose and Bruno had done their job and not disregarded the law. Don't blame the people trying to fix it, blame those who caused the unnecessary expenditure.

the real reason for the bigger fee is that the new board wants a "forensic" audit done so that they are absolutely sure where all the money is and to make absolutely sure of what they are dealing with. if you went to the actual board meetings, you would know these things....but no one cares enough to get up off the couch and see what's going on beyond their tv set so you get what you get....no complaining allowed from those who do not participate.

Will that audit show that Zallor don't pay his taxes on time?If every body paid their taxes like he does they would have to shut the doors and wait 3 yrs to get enough money to open the doors.Maybe he likes to see his name in the paper every year.

My main complaint is that the bidding process was not followed! Simply as that. Where was the letter used seeking this enhanced audit? Whom did the Supervisor contact and what means did he use?$6,000 dollars is a lot of money being spent with no "real" bidding process. The Board worried more about doing background checks on volunteers then managing the Townships monies properly (legally?).

They want people to think that this audit is because they are doing some thing speical when the fact is audits are required every so often by law.It is just a way to make some body look bad when actualy they have to satisfy the state.Drama Drama.what a joke

Better check the facts. First off, if the audit required by law was completed in a timely manner this would not be happening. Rose and Bruno failed to do the Bi-annual audit and the state sent a warning that they township was in violation of the required audit. As for the choice of Auditor's Do you think it's easy to get a CPA firm to stop their regular tax time work to concentrate on a special audit that was due in October well before the present board took over? I'm pissed too but at the people responsible for this expenditure and is's the old treasurers and clerk. I assume the regular audit would be about $2000.00 so the extra $4000 is Jim Sipe's Bruno's and Rose's doing. If your gonna blame someone, blame the people responsible not the ones trying to correct it.

You are the one that needs to check the facts if you really want to argue about this.If you check the facts the first thing you will do is take Roses name out of the conversation,Rose was the last one to have the audit done.We can argue if you want, but stop the lies and get to the facts.

Again I'm back to the fact, that "bids" weren't properly sought. I am not blaming those who are trying to fix this. Besides, isn't that their job? Hell, Obama is still fixing the stuff Bush screwed up. So, Bruno missed the Oct. date, I get that. Blame him, not Rose, who actually did the last filing.
We are spending $6,000 dollars to a group that the current Supervisor "got" for us. How do we know what another CPA would have charged us for this expedited audit? That's why I was wondering what method Wurtsmith used to contact and request a "enhanced" audit from these firms. Please don't tell me he did this by phone, I'd hate to choke on my Cheerios!

Does any one know how the process is supposed to work. The state fits in here some where, isn't there a state mandate that governs who does these audits and how they are done?
