Haven't you figured it out yet? No being smartalec here but merely telling it how it is. I'm 56 and was born in the 50's. I've seen the "colored go here" signs, the movements, etc.

Blacks are the most racist by far, by way way far. It's simply due to one significant factor too.

Think about it. If they were to stop yelling racism all the "free public assistance" would disappear. All the "gimme's" would go poof. They'd not have a leg to stand on. No more welfare, no more section 8 , no more federal subsidized programs, no more charity hospital, no more "projects housing", no more "hire the minority", no more food stamps, no more affirmative action, no more MLK says >>>>>>> >>, no more protesting which is on the rise and one of the things that blacks do best..........force themselves on others as in Jena when 10K decended on the small town of 2500 forcing it to close down and costing thousands in police extras and red cross even feeding them.

I'm not a racist. You donot know me and my words are merely an observation that happens to ring very true.

Racism exists because blacks can't seem to grow up nor make it on their own w/o the help of those of us who work.

I think what you're thinking about is bigotry,which is a more simple form of hatred, but it's not racism. Not by a long shot.
Racism is the oppression of a group of people based on their ethnicity. When I say oppression, I mean a systematic form of control. In America, it's virtually impossible for minorities to be racist because we simply don't hold the control that the majority has. But, let's scale it down to just Winnfield, Louisiana.
There's plenty of racism still here, and denying it is like saying there's no water in the ocean. People qualified to obtain specific jobs are passed over many times simply because they don't have the proper complexion to work there.
Let's take the store Nichol's for example. I've spent most of my school years in Winnfield and not once have I ever known anyone of any ethnicity other than white to work there. I've put in several applications on several occassions, made the phone calls and busted my behind to attempt to obtain employment there, but to no avail.
I wonder why that is. Could it be because I checked my ethnicity as black on my application?
Could be. Certainly seems that way. I wonder if there are any black people working at Nichol's now? Doubtful. The employees even looked at me funny when I walked through the door to turn in my applications. This has happened on several occassions.

Basing your hiring process on ethnicity is a form of racism.

Winnfield Senior High School has had segregated proms for every year I can think of.{except 2003) The School itself refused to get involved with the prom's planning and the school board has refused to even acknowledge the issue. They leave it in the hands of the students, which in turn falls into the hands of the parents who then decide to keep the students separated.
Mind you I gave the Winnfield Tigers 4 years of my life at Stokes-Walker. I stood on the offensive and defensive line with both black and white players. We shared victory and defeat together; yet when it's all over, we're hindered from celebrating the end of our school days together because of some people who are afraid of mixing the ethnicities?
Control of social functions based on race is a form of racism.
Other good examples of racism include:
The Holocaust
Segregation
Jim Crow Laws
Internment Camps for the Japanese after the bombing of Pear Harbor
Police Officers using hoses and dogs to try to break up what were once-peaceful protests (which, mind you, is a violation of the constitution's 1st amendment)
So, in closing, I'll say this. It's virtually impossible for any minority to be racist. Bigoted, I don't doubt that. I know many blacks who hate whites, but they're not in the position to control them.
The man I just quoted is an obvious bigot. He sincerely seems to believe that all black people live on welfare and want hand-outs. He seems to believe that without all the "gimmes" black people would have a leg to stand on.
I'm not on welfare.
I don't ask your tax dollars for a dime.
I attend college.
And there are thousands of black people just like me.
Besides, most people on welfare are white females with 1 to 2 children. So, how about you start digging up some facts, alright?

I work with older black ladies and in their opinion also, the younger black generation blame everything on race. They say they don't have a clue of what racism is or what has been endured to be where they are now. These ladies tell me, about their own race mind you, that they need to quit blaming white folks and get off their butts and work or go to school. But if you think about it that is every race. I don't hear Hispanics complain half as much as i hear black folks fuss about white folks. No I'm not racist, but black people are also bigots and racist. Al Sharpton is the worst one.

Spartan - that was a very well- written and informative piece. I understand now what the difference is between bigotry and racism... at least as far as the black definition. I always thought that anyone who JUDGED anyone by the color of their skin... or who Hated anyone based on such weak reasons was racist. Now I learn that the word BIGOT is the one to be applied there. I would like to think that I am neither, nor have I raised children to be that way. However, I do think that I would prefer being guilty of racism than bigotry, if your definition stands. Even your well written piece seems to make it OK for black people to hate white people. I remember my mama telling me about the day she and her best buddy, a little black girl reaching the age where they realized that they were different colors.. and that meant they couldn't be friends. They were looking at the backs of their hands, side by side very sadly. Suddenly the little black girl broke into a great big smile and said "look at this!" and turned both hands over so that the almost identically colored palms were showing. "See? They're just alike!" And both little girls went on for many years as good friends.
