Yes, I can believe the NPPJ wants another tax increase to help bail them out, once again. But I do not believe parish voters will pass the tax.

My question is when will the tax increases stop. 0.25% here, 0.5% there, 1.0% for the Mayor to hire a Chief of Staff. When does it stop. I am tired of paying taxes so the elected can reap the benefits they think they deserve. I say NO MORE TAXES -- especially to this Police Jury. I think the first thing the Police Jury needs to do, if they are really interested in serving the public, is to publish a detailed accounting of every penny spent. AS is is now, our tax dollars seem to be going into a bottomless pit.

Perhaps it's time for the Govenor to send in a task force to do a complete, thorough audit of the Police Jury's financial records for the past few years.

The audit results might creat a scandal that would embarrass the Govenor.

Let the prisoners live in tents, eat balogna sandwiches and wear pink underwear. Definitely cheaper.

Who actually receives the funds that the police jury spends on the inmates?

So, what's the alternative if there is no tax increase to pay for the prisoners? Turn them loose and let them roam the streets? Someone has to pay for their keep.

Now thats stupid

no one will be turned loose, but that is the crap that the parish will start.

No they will just have to do without their autobody shop "Playtime", And work more in the fields. Or instead of just mowing and cutting grass for the city, hire them out to people around the city and parish. Earn money that way.,

If they can be led about cutting grass along the road, they can cut grass around the schools, Alliance, the hospital, and other large businesses

You can take a couple to live in your house OR we could put them on a bus bound for New Orleans.

No, what I said is not stupid, it is a reality. If you want to express your anger, please direct it to the deserving party, the NPPJ.

First of all, this parish should go the home rule route. The members of the police jury DO NOT want to give up their power. Mr.Cunningham has the right idea. They should not get a 1/4 cent tax passed in July. Citizens of the parish vote NO. We are paying too much sales taxes now. The tax vote should fail. A complete audit should take place.

I'm against any new taxes. I don't care what they are for. If they want to save a little money get rid of the guards at the dump sites. We are we paying to have people guard the dumpsters anyway? All they do is dig thru the garbage to see what they can take home. They are like a bunch of opossoms digging in the trash. I even see them out digging in the garbage on Sundays when nobody is around to watch them. Are they opening trash bags looking for idenities to steal? They have access to all the papers you throw in the grabage . they should not be allowed in the grabage. If they are to guard it then guard it not dig in it to gather infomation on people.

Home rule is a stupid idea. If we can't pay the bills now how in the world do you expect to pay one person one hundred thousand dollars a year to be the parish manager? That is a waste of our dollars. It would be appointed to a friend and we would be in the same boat we are in now only with a hundred thousand dollars less to spend.

Bottom line.. Vote no to any new tax. Not only the parish but the city and state included. Stand up and say enough is enough.

There are too many Police Jury members. We should not be providing free health and dental care along with free life insurance for these part time employees. I decide a couple of years ago that I would never vote for another tax increase when the jury decided that the citizens of this parish should not be allowed to even have a study of the possible advantages of home rule. The fact that it is done in Lafayette went right over their heads. If they are so smart how did they manage to get us so far in financial trouble?

NO NEW TAXES! When we elect a more intelligent PJ then I may consider it. My hard earned money is getting wasted by local, state, and federal governments.
