Where have you been? Have you had that nasty bird flu and lost a whole year of your life? Should have gotten a flu shot. I had it a few years ago. Was sick for a month. Lost 3 days. They were just gone. I don't know where they went. They were just gone, If you find mine while you're looking for yours, mail them too me. I'm old and need everyday that I can possibly get.

I gotta' go. There's a John Wayne movie on. I never miss one if I can help it. I sorta kinda knew a John once or that's what he said his name was. He used to dispatch for SO. Someone said the KKK killed him. When I told Diane at the Store what had happened she said she hadn't listened to the obits that morning. Haven't heard from him again so I guess it was true. I personally miss the old bird myself. I was hoping I would meet him one day. Oh Well, what can ya' do. God won't give ya' everything you need. Its "Hatari". The one where they are catching animals in Africa. If John isn't dead and you happen to know him, give him a big old kiss for me and tell him I miss him. Off to the movies. Remember Rooster Cogburn when he put the reigns in his teeth and road out to meet the bac guys and yelled "Feel you hands you SOB (only he said it). Bye for now. Not only am I a nice person and caring. I'm funny too. He doesn't know what he's missing by letting the KKK get him. Oh Well, I guess he should have looked back.

I can't wait till Christmas Eve. First time I've spent it with my kids in quite awhile and their cooking!!! I am making a crab dip. It's yummy. Anyone want to trade receipes today? Make it a real Holiday day!!! Someone used my coca cola cake receipe in a local cookbook sometime back, so see I do have some very good ones. I think it was breast cancer awareness or something like that. I'm not sure. As long as it went for a good cause that's okay with me. Always glad to help. Plus, I bought the book.

Oh Looky, I got a peanut!!!!!!! I'll go first on the receipe

Crab Dip

2 pkgs - 8 oz cream cheese
3 T milk (may need to add a little more if too dry or if you less if you want to use it as a cracker topping rather than dip)
3 green onions very finely chopped
2 T horse radish or to your taste
2 cans crab meat - flaked

I top mine with paprika just make make it look festive

cream cream cheese, add milk, stir ikn onions horse radish. Gently stir in crab meat last

This is a great receipe. You can really make it your own for whatever you want to use it for. I have toasted little bread rounds and used it as a topping on that. Play around with it make it your own.

Actually I was wondering recently how it would be if you took out the cream cheese and added may and used it as a sandwich spread. If you try that let me know.

Well my day ended on a wonderful note anyway. After a check up the Mr. is doing great and just continues to get better everyday.

AND

I won't tell where I met him but I met a young man working in a restaurant this afternoon, He wanted to know where I got my John Deere Sweatshirt hoodie. He told me he wanted to get his girlfriend one. So we talked a few minutes and come to find out he was orginally from Clayton county where his Grandad had been Sheriff at one time and his Dad is now a Mandated Lt. I could tell he was so proud and he had to explain what a Mandated Lt. was. Anyway we had just a minute more and I asked if that's what he wanted to do. With the biggest smile I had ever seen he just looked at me and yes and said that's what he going to school for now. What proud parent and grandparents they must be of that young man. It just thrilled me to death and made my day!!

Okay one more and then I'm not sharing anymore of mine till you share some of yours.

German Potato Salad

Makes 4 servings

3 c. diced peeled pototoes
4 slices of bacon
1 small onion, diced
1/4 c. white vinegar
2 T. water
3 T. white sugar
1 t. salt
1/8 t. groung black pepper
1 T. chopped fresh parsley

Place potatoes into pot and fill with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil, cook for about 10 minutes or until easily pierced with fork. Drain & set aside.

Place bacon in large deep skillet over medium heat. Fry till browned & crisp, turning as needed. Remove from pan, set aside

To grease add onion, cook over medium heat until browned. Add vinegar, water, sugar, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, then add potatoes and parsley. Crumble in half of the bacon. Heat through, transfer to a serving dish. Crumble remaining bacon over the top, and serve warm.

Got this one from a friend when I lived in Wisconsin.
