You must be the most SMART ASSED person on earth! Everything you say is sarcastic! You evidentally are very young or very uneducated or probably both!!! It is a matter of who you are referring to in your statement. Doss did indeed committ a crime with sodomy, but that was dropped, everything else was consentual with a 17 year old girl that was MORE than willing. Sheffield on the other hand had consentual relations with the same 17 year old girl, who was MORE than willing with him also. Everyone says that the sentences were too LITE and they should have been treated like anyone else. I have never seen as much publicity on someone not a police officer, if it was anyone else these charges would have never been placed at all. The "victim" is the one soley responsible for this mess. She is the one not willing to tell her parents, the prosecutor, or her family the real truth and the events that took place. IN VIRGINIA THE LAW STATES THAT A 17 YEAR OLD (OR 16 YEAR OLD) CAN CONSENT TO SEXUAL RELATIONS, THAT IS THE LAW.(Regardless of what people may want to think should be the law). SHE CONSENTED!!! You say "most SMART ASSED person on earth", I say witty. Name one teacher who has had sex with a student under his/her supervision that hasn't been raked over the coals like this and worse. No minor in the state of Virginia can have sex with someone in a supervisory role. Ergo, no minor can "consent" to anything. And for good reason. Most people are going to do whatever the person with the gun says. ESPECIALLY, since they were in there uniform. Its a de facto law that officers can't have sex while on duty period, much less with a minor.

Two men are serving time, if for nothing less, for not holding themselves above reprorach. And ar we really willing to put our trust in officers who can't do that?

Again you must be corrected!(You were previously corrected before in your statement!!) Who ever you are getting your "laws" from needs to quit or find another job, because they or you are WRONG!!! I do know the law and it is NOT against the law for an officer to have sex while on duty. People can not distinguish the difference between what they think is morally wrong versus what is legally wrong. Heaven help us all if everyone can be charged with moral crimes because practically everyone has made a moral mistake sometime in their life. Your "victim" friend is the one that has not let the true facts be known. She is the one that approached Sheffield, she is the one that asked him to have sexual relations with her, he was not in a supervisory position because it was after hours when the event had closed, she initiated it, and he responded to it. Two people engaged in consentual relations!! Morally he should not have, but nothing was illegal about it. She made it into something when the family found out about it and then she became the little "innocent minor" because she could not tell them what really happened. I am not going to go into detail about the DNA evidence because I am sure you know all about it yourself, but we are very bitter about the sodomy charges on Doss being dropped when clearly the DNA evidence shows it!!

Just because it was after hours doesn't negate a supervisory role. That's like saying it's okay for a highschool teacher to have sex with a student as long as class has been dismissed.

It is completely absurd that you think that it is not illegal for a police officer to have sex while on duty. Its a principle of law called "Official Oppression". A person can not truly "consent" to do anything with a person who has authority over them. Any request or directive is viewed by the law as an order that must be obeyed, not weighed and chosen. Therefore it is an abuse of power to for a police to have sex while on duty.

Sheffield's dna was found as well.
If the book was thrown at Sheffield, whoever threw it missed him completely.

First - the girl wasn't given the chance to tell the truth. Sheffield decided to take a plea bargain so the girl couldn't testify.

Second - "payback" that's completely laughable. As I remember it her brother is several years older than her and the incident in which you speak of happening last year happened nearly 10 year ago. Someone else needs to get their facts straight... I also remember that the officers involved with him weren't involved with her. I believe he "paid his debt to society" and was allowed to go back to the school a year later. Why didn't she go after the officers who arrested him? Try to remember that other people can remember the past, can't really make up parts to suit your purpose...

Third - I've seen the girl recently. Pitiful doesn't quiet describe her. Strong, happy, moving on, that's the words I'd use to describe her.

Yes his DNA was found, but where at? It was NOT in her underwear, and it was not mixed with her DNA!!(unlike the other person that was charged with sodomy and then that was DROPPED!!) It was on her pants, which clearly does not prove any type of sexual intercourse!! I really don't understand why we are going back and forth with this you are obviously her family or the "victim" herself. As we have said before she is telling what she wants people to hear now, but we have proof and statements that clearly states that she was a willing participate and consented fully. As a matter of fact she was even quoted as saying she would like for it to happen again sometime. The problem we have being his family is he is in prison for over 2 years, can not be with his children, touch them, or care for them, all because of a girl not owning up to her own mistakes and decisions she made. No thinking, he did go back home to Mommy and Daddy. His girlfriend did kick him out and I have seen her a few times since and she seems much happier now.
