On Monday April 26th deputies made contact with a resident on the unit block of Palmer Lane, Portola Valley, in regard to a mountain lion sighting over the weekend. Upon their arrival the resident told them that on Sunday April 25th at approximately 4:30 AM he heard something strike the sliding glass window located at the rear of the residence. When the resident went to investigate he saw a mountain lion had captured a small deer on the rear deck of the residence. As the mountain lion wrestled with the dear the resident thought that the mountain lion might break the window and enter the home. The resident stated that when the mountain lion saw him standing inside the residence it started to slowly walk away. The lion eventually departed the area leaving the deer carcass behind. The resident stated he has lived in the area for a number of years and knows the difference between a mountain lion and a bob cat. He states that this lion was twice as big as a bob cat and described it as the size of a large dog.
