How s h i t t y can a company be? He lost his insurance, then couldn't get Tenncare because he had a pre-existing condition. There's a special place in Hell for somebody who would do such a thing. Apparently, no one told him he could be off under FMLA. Think about it people, that could just as easily have been you or me. My heart goes out to his family.

Actually you need to learn more about Tenncare.
Tenncare has nothing to do with a pre-existing condition.
The fact is that since 2010 the State of Tennessee severely cut Tenncare and no-one over 18 other than pregnant women can get Tenncare unless they are deemed disabled by Social Security.
Currently in Tennessee there are hundreds of thousands of people who are being left to die just to keep the budget balanced.
Obamacare would have taken care of this cancer patient, but NOOOOOO it is faaar too evil.
In fact the Feds guarantee 100% reimbursement for eraly adopters of the Medicaid expansion part of Obamacare, which would save people like your cancer patient from certain death, but Tennessee has to wait and ignore their plight.

OK, you are right, maybe I do need to learn more about Tenncare. But my whole point was how s h i t t y a company can be to their employees. This man HAD insurance until the company he worked for took it away from him. And I still say there's a special place in Hell for someone who would do such a thing.

Have him go to www.pcip.gov . This is a new federal option for people with pre-existing conditions..The downfall to this is that he has to go 6 months without any insurance

He will be dead by then. You see that is the catch with the program, make a waiting period long enough to kill off all the people with expensive problems. Kind of like the looong wait for disability claims.

Also, Obamacare already makes all insurance companies accept pre-existing conditions, and all of them are cheaper than that program.

Thats only true for children under the age of 19..I agree the private companies are cheaper(in most cases) than that federally funded program, PCIP.

BlueCare is but one health insurance company in TN that accepts pre-existing conditions, but their prices have doubled in the last 2 years.

Without the individual mandate companies will have to raise prices to comply with the new law.
