It probably makes it worth while for her since someone got a loan thru her!

this does seem like a good thing for students to do, but couldn't it thru the school and not a bank? seems like a subversive advertisement....

and high school GPA doesn't necessarily control your future job if there are no good jobs around!

I hope this program will be some help to these students because they will surely need it.

I was a volunteer with this program this year and was able to see, first hand, what an excellent program Buchtel has put together. The high schoolers really seemed to enjoy themselves, as did the volunteers, and after the program was over you could actually see the determination on their young faces about needing to make a change in their academic studies. More high schools need to pick up on this program.

I can't say enough about this idea. Too many kids today leave high school with no idea what the real world is like, and fall to it's temptations and "easy way outs". Hopefully this lesson will stick for a long time - and other HS's should look into providing something similar.

Its a postive start. Perhaps this program will reduce the amount of people who file for ch.7/13,
etc.

Perhaps it will also reduce the amount of young people who turn to selling drugs.

I hope so, but easy money is awfully alluring, especially if school 'wasn't your thing' at the time and you either avoided going or cared nothing for grades. And then dropped out.

My neighborhood has many such young people. No job prospects, or too lazy to look, or no car to go look.

Nothing to do but sleep all day and get wasted all night. Brick each other's cars. Break into houses. And so on, on, on.

They suck at life, they realize this and don't care to better themselves. Or don't know how to go about it.

So here he is, still livlng with Grandma at age 24, working in fast food.

Future? A future?

Any of this sound familiar about your 'hoods?

I wish I had a simple answer.
