Political Correctness Run Amok in Athens Georgia

Every member of the Athens Clarke County government and the Georgia Department of Public Health in Athens, run by the State of Georgia, who has winked at people living in and around Athens in third world conditions for many years, is in patent violation of their oaths of office and failure to enforce existing laws and should all be jailed immediately and summarily removed from office.

If any property owner in Athens allowed anyone to live in filth and squalor, as these folks have been doing for many years in some cases, they would be fined and jailed. The only obvious explanation for the total dismal failure of our incompetent and corrupt government to deal with this problem is because they fear they would look bad enforcing the existing laws on those "poor" homeless people, who have been permitted to live like a third world county like Haiti and possibly even communicate horrible diseases to the general population of Athens and beyond. In fact such possibilities are exactly the basis of local housing and health and sanitary codes in the first place.

Why didn't the author of this article in the Athens Banner Herald point out some of these issues too?

Let's face it, Athens and Georgia are politically correct and judicial sewers.

There are only about 2 comments out of about 75 to the article above which closely addressed these issues although they did not note that government itself is corrupt and in patent violation of the very law they took a meaningless oath to enforce.

And what about all those "distinguished" professors in the UGA law school and even the new law professor "president elect" of UGA Morehead; observe their collective deafening silence on all this illegal conduct by our local and State officials in the public health department too.
Everyone of our government commissioners, Mayor and director of the Georgia Department of Public Health should be arrested and place in jail and removed from office by the Governor immediately.
Treat them like the federal government treats criminals, without any due process as they deserve none.

Why isn't the local police chief enforcing the law in Clarke County and evicting these squatters who are polluting the river and the environment and possibly risking the health of the roughly 100,000 responsible taxpaying citizens of Clarke County?

Could it be that the Mayor and ten commissioners are telling the police chief with a wink of the eye not to enforce the law all of them took a meaningless oath to uphold?

Perhaps Athens and Clarke County need to fire the politically controlled police chief and return to the elected Sheriff of Athens Clarke County who was formerly removed as the chief law enforcement officer for exactly similar reasons then. Corruption. In other words, most of the 159 counties in Georgia have elected Sheriffs who are sworn to enforce the law fairly and uniformly throughout their counties and are not under the political thumb of political hacks.

Let's return to the former system and replace the polltically corrupt police department with an elected Sheriff who has power to enforce all laws, not just serve court papers.

Athens Clarke County has turned into a miserable place to live. Bars and clubs packed into everyplace possible downtown, drunk students run the city. It has turned into Atlanta and that's pathetic. Crime rates rising, don't go to Walmart or anywhere near Lexington road at night. Homeless camps are not our biggest issue.
