Why do YOU feel the need to go to extremes? The incidents above illustrate the actions of a few irresponsible or irrational individuals. And yet you wish to paint all responsible gun owners as unreasonable if they do not wish to have their Constitutionally protected rights infringed upon BECAUSE of the actions of the VERY small minority of irresponsible gun owners - and it bears repeating that the majority of gun related crimes are committed by NON-legal gun possessors.
It has already been addressed, but what about all the myriad of other ways in which people can be hurt by the irresponsible use of other items. Should ALL cars have breathalyzers installed that must be used before a car can be started because of the (actually larger) number of idiots who go out partying and then get behind the wheel of their vehicle - that would save more lives than any gun restrictions the Left wishes to enact.(2010 - 10,228 DUI related deaths, 9,369 gun related homicides)
What about the irresponsible people who leave medications out where children could get them. Should everyone be required to have a safe in which they keep all medications - including aspirin?(don't want to take the chance of Reyes Syndrome). That is one of the latest crazes amongst irresponsible teenagers - Pharm Parties -everyone raids their parents medicine cabinet and they throw the pills into a big bowl and just grab a handful - IDIOTS.
Why are guns the target (no pun intended)?
And just how responsible was it to tell gun store owners who called about concerns over gun purchases near the border to go ahead and sell the guns? And then made NO EFFORT to track the guns, nor did they inform the Mexican govt (unlike the Bush administration with Wide Receiver). THAT if just what Fast and Furious did and yet somehow Obama and Holder are NOT held responsible by the Left - do you even see the hypocrisy?
It's the liberal MO. If THEY don't approve, take it away from EVERYONE!!!!! All "he" does is spew a whole lot of useless words that amount to NOTHING. That's his MO. He just hammers people with a onslaught of useless drivel. He is a "right" fighter. You are wasting your time, Aggie.

Nope, the auto industry would not have failed, bankruptcy and reorganization would have been the logical result and they would have come out of it - BUT the UNIONS wouldn't and so the government stepped in to keep the unions whole and violated bankruptcy regulations that should have protected creditors.
And typically, you try to state that those who object to unreasonable tax rates to fund failing programs object to ALL taxes - nope, sorry - none on the Right object to taxes to support those functions the government is expected to perform. Can't even call that a "nice try" on your part as it has been refuted so many times.
He simply repeats what the other left wingers have said. He wouldn't be able to explain any of it.

Dave, it's time for an intervention.
We, all your good friends at Topix, have noticed that you need a new pair of glasses.
Obviously your eye-sight has deteriorated to the point where you only read the headlines of the articles you post, not the actual text of the articles.
Venezuela has had a 54% inflation rate in the last year. They've got some SERIOUS economic problems that they are trying to put a lid on, while certain companies are exacerbating the problem through price-gouging.
That's at least twice this week that you didn't know the content of the articles you've linked to.
Poor reading skills would explain a lot with you.
I see as usual you didn't answer any of my questions on post # 38880. All you do is spin and always for the extreme left.

Whatever are we going to do when you're generation is in the ground, and the vast majority of us know nothing, and don't care? The world will be truly a boring place without the know-it-all Boomers. We'll miss ya'! But, for now, you may continue the bickering that entertains us. And I have decided to vote next time for President. I will write in my vote for Stelio, as a cartoon character could run the country better than the morons you people vote for. Either that, or Ted Cruz. I figure we might as well replace one idiot for another, huh?
I can tell you what you will do. You will do EXACTLY as the government tells you to do because by that time, the socialist agenda will be complete.

How does that work? When Bush was duly elected back in the day, did you say the same about him? He certainly had a lot more ties to Wall Street than Obama... Gee, I'm just glad that corporate raider Mormon nut didn't win, he'd be so far in bed with Wall Street he'd have to wear rubbers all the time...
And by the way, I thought you "conservatives" were for big business, unbridled capitalism and less government intrusion. You should be oh so proud of Wall Street and what it's done to the middle class. But of course you really shouldn't forget what the Republican Party has done to the middle class, either...
I am a conservative, but I believe that unbridled capitalism is just as bad for the people as a communist or fascist economy. The inherent problem is that all these choices are run by men and they are normally greedy and uncaring about the people as long as they have their power. Yes, I said the same thing about Bush but he is no longer president and there is nothing I can do about the past. I haven't forgotten what the Democratic Party and the Republican Party has done to us. I am not in love with the Republican Party just because I am a conservative.

Without having to read anything past the first 3 sentences of that. Let me say, AGAIN, I lean neither way. I just find it morally debilitating that a society allows itself to be the subject of the grand experiment of divisiveness, and then complain to each other about it, while the source of the problem continues to completely drain your souls. Tell me this... Do people wake up one day and magically think "I am now going to believe in this because some person I just shelled out money to elect says they will be doing me a personal favor"? Is that how that is? Do you really believe anyone in our government give two squirts of piss about you? lol Good luck with that.
Why do you care then? You despise what we stand for, yet, you keep coming back. If we want to entertain ourselves on a forum by going back and forth; sometimes with debate and other times with sarcasm and insults, what is it to you? I'm sure there are forums that support your "We'll teach 'em. We just won't vote" technique. Why not go there? Makes too much sense, huh.

<quoted text>I read an article about that too, Dave. From what I understand, the gov't has just started taking over some stores and selling the goods themselves when they catch the business owners gouging the customers, this all in an attempt to stem record inflation in that country. Interestingly enough, the people, on both the left and right, seem to be in favor of it.
Of course the people are for it. Things cost too much. They soon will not be able to afford anything due to hyper inflation which is caused by a communist run government. I notice no one but me mentions that.

Well-spoken.
It's amazing how many Americans still refuse to apologize for the economic, environmental and infrastructure devastation, and the death brought about by their RWW policies.
It's almost as amazing as alleged "Conservatives" demanding the right to be freeloading medical care deadbeats, and demanding the right to sacrifice limited medical care dollars to profit medical insurers.
I think you are still nuts. You expect a business to operate without profit?

Amazing, huh?
I don't log on much anymore. When I read the left wing BS on this forum, I feel hopeless for the future of this country. The libs on this forum obviously aren't very intelligent and the dumb ones on here just follow their lead. They have no idea that they are being led down a path of oppression. Sad.

... socialist maybe- but not communist. But either way it is a government that was fairly and democratically elected by a majority of the people of that country. I know that a lot of right wingers long for the 'good ole days' when Nixon or Reagan would just finance a CIA sponsored coup (Chile) or illegally fund an opposition army (Nicaragua), but I hope we have learned a little since then.

More poor analysis.

I don't claim my ideology or my posts are "irrefutable". I claim that certain irrefutable facts are irrefutable, and that those facts are the foundation of what I'm saying.

Allow me to provide an example.

The fact that H20 freezes at 0 degrees Celsius in our normal Earth atmosphere is irrefutable. It's been repeated many times in the past with the same results, there is a consensus that this is true by trained unbiased scientists, and if you tried it right now, h2o would freeze at the temperature.

H20 freezes at 0 degrees Celsius. That is irrefutable.
From there I might state that the lake has frozen over, and that it's freezing outside. I've used an irrefutable fact to logically deduce that it's 0 degrees celsius or colder. See how that works?

NOW- let's try this:

A leading coal-polluter stands to make a lot of money if they can convince some idiots that water doesn't freeze. They then donate a bunch of money to Freedom Works. Freedom Works then pays a 501c group that they created called the Science is Bullshizzle Patriots to write a paper that claims science is crap, so there's no way that you know what temperature water freezes at. Fox News puts an article up on their website saying "Leading anti-science Group proves water doesn't freeze in groundbreaking new research".

Some bone-headed Topix poster then comes on and attacks the notion of science, and cites the Fox News Link as proof for their insane position. However in this instance, the facts that they base their premise on are in face, REFUTABLE. They aren't really facts, they are lies. Made up lies that they try to convince people of, also sometimes called propaganda.

You guys understand? Or too many words for you?

It's so much easier to just create a Straw Man who wants to confiscate all weapons, leaving the citizenry defenseless against the tyrannical American government that, against our wishes, wants to rule over all aspects of our lives.
Imagine ... This is the argument made by people who claim to be good citizens who want to keep 50 round magazines to allow them to shoot as many government employees as necessary;
and who while claiming forcing people to buy medical insurance is too intrusive, want government to control who sleeps with who, and who has children and who doesn't, and whether you can grow a bush and smoke it.
Damn... These folks are so amusingly irrational.
They really are funny. Kind of like watching a kitten chase after a laser-pointer on the wall, convinced they can catch it. They just KNOW, and you can't tell them otherwise.

You don't "sign-up" for ObamaCare. It's not an actual insurance policy.

You know that, right?

I'm only asking this because you've posted that same meaningless question 57 times now. It's starting to look like you don't understand this at all.

OK, so you've got some "Dr." nobody has ever hear of, telling us of here 13-year-old impression that Obama was gay.

Check this! I'll see you Doctor, and raise you a Major, in fact one claiming that Bush was Gay, and there's interview transcripts to prove it.

http://gaygeorgewbush.tripod.com/

WASHINGTON— "President" George W. Bush was unusually reflective in the final weeks of his administration, taking time during speeches and press conferences to look back on key decisions, expound on his legacy, and tout his role in paving the way for the nation's first African-American president by serving eight years as its first openly gay president.

"I'm inspired by our great country's willingness to look past the color of a man's skin—or, in my case, his overt homosexuality—and elect him based on his ability to lead," Bush told reporters following his meeting with president-elect Barack Obama on Nov. 10. "I've always been proud of my homosexuality, and I am so proud of the United States."

Bush added, "Thank you, America, for taking a chance on an openly gay man from Texas: tight jeans, cowboy hats, and all."
