Officers' families suits pending

A representative for the children of slain Athens police Sgt. Larry Russell said attorneys for the children would consider in coming weeks whether the children deserve a part of a settlement awarded to the killer's mother.

This is the best news I have heard in years! I do not feel the mother of the killer should profit in any way. Her sons death was accidental/natural. Those officers deaths were not an accident or natural. She was neglectful in the officers deaths too. Their death was the only real wrongful death in the incident. I hope the officers families end up with EVERY PENNY that woman gets!!!

The Dept. of Corrections settled a suit that alleged "Barksdale, who suffered from schizophrenia, died because of “the deliberate indifference, medical neglect and negligence” of the prison staff. Do you really consider that a "natural" death?

Key word is ALLEGED! And it was stated accidental/natural because negligence isn't always on purpose. Natural causes was the autopsy finding. I guess accurate information isn't given in Texas
