It is not a matter of not understanding or not having compassion. It is a matter of we as US citizens working all our lives to have what we have and having government assistance as a safety net if we need it but not using it unless absolutely necessary. It is a matter of others coming here illegally and abusing the very benefits we paid for and most of us never use. It is not our responsibility as US citizens to make life better for the less fortunate. If it were we should do more for the less fortunate in this country who are really unable to do for themselves. INS has quotas for just this reason and anyone coming here without going through the proper channels is causing an undue burden on us and our economy and it is finally starting to show.

We can care and help but we should not just "give away the farm". There are other ways of helping.
