I guess you're pretty good considering. What skeeves a lot of people off is that most of the bad writing on these boards is actually done by people whose native language is supposedly English. So, I guess we all get a little impatient. In fact when people pull out a linguistically imperfect comment, I always assume the person is a native speaker who just happens to be a blithering idiot. Not because that's always the case- clearly. But it's usually the case. Sorry for snarking at your skills when you're trying to learn. I know from first hand experience that second languages aren't easy.

Fifth Generation, that is, and 5 of the generations have people who served in the service of our country, both Military and Civil jobs such as Police, Fire Dept., and city, State, and Government offices, plus 3 generations from my husband's family. What does illegal mean? It seems that MANY have forgotten. Illegal also means that they do not deserve free food, medical services, subsidized housing United State drivers liscenses, Social Security benefits, subsidized schooling, or a hundred other priveleges that my forbears and family have fought for.

I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it lovingly with seed. It was indeed a beautiful bird feeder.

Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food.

But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue.

Then came the bird shit. It was everywhere; on the patio tile, the chairs, the table ... everywhere!

Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud. They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. So I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio. Soon, the back yard was like it used to be .... quiet, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal.

Now let's see ......

Our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, and free education and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen.

Then the illegals came by the millions.

Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 or more families; you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by a doctor in an emergency room because it is filled with illegals; your child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English.

Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to 'press one' to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than 'Old Glory' are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.

Its just my opinion but:

maybe, just maybe, it's time for the government to take down the damn bird feeder.

Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder
to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests. Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover
me in your house, you insist that I leave.

But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the
dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters;
You are required to let me stay in your house.
You are required to add me to your family's insurance plan.
You are required to educate my kids.
You are required to provide other benefits to me & to my family

(my husband will do all of your yard work because
he is also hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out,
I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my RIGHT to be there.

It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm a hard-working and honest, person, except for well, you know, I did break into your house.

And oh yeah, I get a free education, where you have to pay your own way through college.(TEEHEE)

And what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and
bigoted behavior.

Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you learn MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can communicate with me and don't forget to make sure your forms are in MY language - I need to understand them...

I do not agree with you senor, because I do not see any value to what worries you because I already have my s.s. checks coming in every month,
along with the food stamps and medicaid for all my children and my wife who is pregnant with our 9
child. My other older kids are all getting free

I'm glad that you understand the plight of the mexican people since you lived there for 11 yrs.
If all these heartless people knew the hard life the mexicans face in a poor nation like mexico, they would maybe understand why they come across illegally. They want to work so they can feed their family ! They only want a chance,.....but they can't afford the price they have to pay and the wait they have to do.
