Yet another condo project proposes to obliterate Astoria waterfront

The vote is split, and for now it is on hold as a "no".
I for one think that the city of Astoria needs to stop any further construction of any of these large (three to four stories is the newest one in the proposal), view-hogging condominiums especially in the core area of the city.
There is one going in at the foot of Sixth in the near future, and an existing one down at the end of 3rd.
The newest would be on the site of the old Englund Marine building just West of the Maritime Museum, at the foot of 15th.
One of the main features of our city, the view of the river and all that it brings into our daily lives, is in danger of disappearing behind walls of human storage units.
It has to stop. There are other beautiful sites that won't destroy the view for everyone.
Surely another use for the site won't be as lucrative, but when is too much not enough, anyway?

My bet says: As is usual, historically, when a controversial issue with the appropriate "Nabob" names attached to it comes before Astoria Planning Commission and ends in a controversial vote (3 Yes, 3 No and one business partner/Commissioner abstaining) it will go to Astoria City Council, the Findings of Fact will be re-written as many times as necessary to get "The Appropriate Truth" to allow Council to pass the project in question.
