None of the reasons cited are sufficient,Costco is
trying to maintain an "image",and food stamps does
not fit that image.....plain and simple.
It is a subtle way of discrimination.

I guess so if you really need to buy 200 rolls of bathroom tissue or 75 cans of peas. I guess they are the families like the duggers who have 18 kids. If people would use coupons and match them to the sales, they could save a ton of money. I do and have and always will. Thats really the reason I was able to retire at the age of 40 and live very very confortable with the interest I draw off my money .I never saw the sense in PAYING for the priviliage to shop in stores like sams and such. thats the stupidest thing i have ever heard of. And they wont take coupons? Boy, some folks fall for the dumbest tricks.

how stupid saying costco is not for the poor. people that are poor also can save there money and buy in large amounts so they do not have to keep taking trips to the store and buying in large amounts saves you money.

I agree with susan. If someone is needing to save money, coupons is the way to go, not paying to go to a store to buy stuff. Thats plain dumb. Stores sell large amounts of stuff to just like costco but if you plan right and use coupons, you can save a ton of money. just a few weeks ago, there was coupons for a certain mayo for .75 off and alot of stores double these so that .75 becomes 1.50 and the small jar of mayo was on sale for 1.39. so there is a profit to be made there. Most people are just to lazy to use coupons. Recently there was coupons for 1.00 off paper towels and there was 2 different stores that had them on sale for 1.00. free paper towels! There is tons of coupons to be had if people wasnt to lazy to look for them. The best one I have found lately is 2.00 off any ham, turkey or lunch meat.FREE SANDWICH MEATS! Costco doesnt give away free meat!

Costco is meant to cater to economical buyers as well as BUSINESSES. It takes money to make money, and a penny saved is a penny earned. The moral behind Costco is different than that of WalMart. The profit margin of Costco is way below that of WalMart, the fair pricing follows true wholesale value along with using the 80/20 merch sales rule. At Walmart you could save $100 on a computer there but, what people don't realize is that they're probably paying about 50 cents extra for a jar of mayo, more people by mayo more frequently than they buy a computer. So you'll get suckered into paying more for things you need, so you can save a few bucks on something you WANT. Costco uses true wholesale values on all their products. Some things may not seem like much of a deal but, guess what? That gallon of milk you've been thinking about hasn't been marked up a single cent. You just gotta weigh the pros and cons of each company, it all works out in a balance though.

I agree with the poster who said smart folks will stay away from places like sams and costco and use coupons. My wife has made a believer outa me when it comes to coupons. she can match coupons to sales and go in a store and come out with enough food to feed us for 2 weeks and never go over the 50.00 budget she gave herself. Its a great game and its really good when you win. Most folks just dont take the time to gather the coupons and match them to the sales.

Costco is the friendliest company to their employees as well as their customers than any of the bulk stores. You may pay a bit more for something, but when you compare it to other stores, you are going to see that in the end, you are getting more for your money. What many don't know about Costco is that, excluding certain electronic items due to the huge loss that Costco was getting on these items, almost every single item in a Costco store can be returned and money refunded as long as the item was bought within 10 years. You can take meat back as long as it is less than 10 years old! This alone makes me keep going back to Costco over and over. They may not always have the cheapest items, but they sell the high end products at a bigger discount. I have only once came across an item that Costco sold that I found cheaper somewhere else. In 7 years of shopping there. And you can't beat the way they treat their employees. I know this because my husband has worked for the company for 20 years. I think that it would be nice if Costco could somehow sell a special reduced membership to those on food stamps in order to include them in their customer base. Maybe in the future.

I can not understand why anyone would actually pay to be allowed to buy something in a store. This just doesnt make good sense. You PAY just to walk into a store to BUY stuff. I use coupons like some of the others who posted and save a ton and I dont have to PAY to get into the store to BUY stuff.

Can someone explain to me why they would pay for the privilage to shop in a store? The 45.00 a yr membership you have to pay just to shop there would put groceries in the table. This is just plain stupid.

My question is: Why do people have to pay for a membership if they want to shop at costco? Why don't they just open the doors to everyone? I don't care how mucho I would save by shopping at Costco, just the fact that they force people to buy a membership I don't like it, and I do not give them the pleasure. If they are in the business of selling, just open the door to everyone. Just out of principles I will never go to those places.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Aries

Christmas Eve finds you happy and eager to get the most out of the day. You're in a rather sentimental mood, so if you've got time you'll relish the chance to watch a favourite film, especially if it means you've got to get out the hankies. A friend's kindness or sensitivity will delight you - and make you wonder how you can reciprocate.
