First off, any grown man who looks for work at a day care center is obviously a pervert. Secondly, why would a woman hire a man for a day care position to begin with?
Third, any parent who dumps their children in day care is purposely putting their children in harm's way.
That's the typical close minded Littlestown way of thinking. Get your head out of your butt buddy! The comment you made is ridiculous. First off it would have been illegal to not hire him because he is a male, second of all I have a man who helps babysit my children and he is amazing with my son, sometimes it's nice to have a male figure around. Unfortuantly in this situation this man was a pediphile. You get women in day care places who are perverts as well. This world is scary. Third of all not every parent has the luxury to stay home with their children, though we all would like to sometimes it just doesn't work out that way. That is why you research the day care talk to other parents and do backrounds checks yourself on the employees there.

There is an older man who works at the Lehman Center who is slightly creepy and he has a full-time regular job. I don't understand why a man with a real job would take a second job doing childcare? Can anyone answer this? Wouldn't he want to spend that time with his biological kids? But, I guess that is ok if he is helping the children, right?

Some men as well as some woman just enjoy children. They like to watch them grow and are just amazed at how they look at the world. If you ever go to a nursing home and see the faces of those people when someone brings their children in you would understand.

Unfortunately not everyone has pure motives, and there are sick people both men and women.

I know of one older man who just loves children (and I do mean in a good way) and likes to spend time with them. But because he always takes time to talk to the children in stores and on the street, people look at him and treat him like he is a pervert. I feel very sure he would give up his life before he would harm or allow harm to come to any child.

When I was growing up, if anyone would talk to me, and hold his/her hand out for a shake and say hello, my parents would chastise me if I didnít return the hello and hand shake. But now due to the society we live in today, we have to tell our children not to talk to strangers.

I can see your point. In today's society we are trained to not trust strangers-but in this case obviously someone spent $ hoping that her kids would get protected, instead they had a creeper touching them inappropriately. I would never leave my kids with any stranger! no matter what!

And I agree that is wrong, but don't they have to go through a background check? I know it doesn't catch everything, but that should have been done. And if the individual slipped through the system things should be tightened up so it doesn't happen again/

I know I have a job where I MAY be working with youth under the age of 16. I have to go through that check every three years. I haven't worked with anyone under 16 in over ten years but still have to go through the check every three years.

plz,
Did you read the article? It says she did an "internal" investigation in April of 2009. She never reported it to authorities. She is required by law to report abuse and she did not.

it clearly states if you feel that it is intentional abuse. there was no reason for it to go to anywhere.

AMAZED, you obviously don't know how the system works if you think social workers go around looking for people that need to be convinced that they have been victimized! Most social workers earn meager wages, work long hours and wish to GOD they could do more for those that they serve. Although I am sure there are some incidences out there that can substantiate what what you have written, it is not the norm. If this woman would have screened her employees the first child would have been protected. After discovering her first mistake, if this woman would have followed proper procedure the five other children would have been protected from this pervert.

Jack, you obviously don't know how this system works. First off, to be very clear, there is no reason or excuse for child abuse or abuse of elderly or any living being. The part you don't understand is that there are people out there who try to get the feather in their cap by coercing people to admit to stories they conjure up in their heads. These people aren't looking out for the primary welfare of the individual but are looking to criminalize anyone within their "power" that they can to justify their existence. I am sure there are many incidences out there that can substantiate what I have just written . Sad that you are too quick to spotlight someone else who didn't elaborate on their personal experience with the system. But alas, you are probably a social worker yourself.

here's a concept...stay at home and take care of your own kids. Its a much better way to go. But, it does require planning, like getting married, staying married, and living within your means. But the rewards are well worth it.

If you didn't conduct your life the way you have, and obviously still do, you wouldn't have to rely on men to babysit your children.

This name really rings a bell to me..if anyone knows the answer to this question, please let me know because as they say "curiosity killed the cat". Years and years ago when I was 16 years old I was in the Foster Care system and I am almost positive that I resided in this foster home...same name. Does anyone know if this is the same Bonnie Bretzman ho was also a Foster family back in the late 80's? Exactly how long has this stuff been going on?????
