There's a lot of truth to that statement. The U.S. government has allowed and practically invited illegal immigrants here for years. If they had truly wanted to seal the border and keep people, they could have done it long ago. It's political, economic and social, and not the least of which is our close economic ties to Mexico, and the fact that we have an aging and retiring population of baby boomers who did not have a lot of children during the 70s and 80s. The government has to create a new sub-culture or population, if you will, in order to support it and its programs. Not saying it's right or wrong, it's just what is.

That is what I have been saying. They could station enlistees to guard the border while earning money for college. The could make the penalties for hiring the undocumented so extreme that companies would not even consider taking the risk of hiring the undocumented. But they do nothing.
