More bad news for Corbett !!!
Raleigh, N.C.– PPP’s newest Pennsylvania poll finds Democrat Tom Wolf with a significant lead over incumbent Republican Tom Corbett in the race for Governor, despite support for Corbett’s decision not to appeal a recent court ruling on gay marriage.
Tom Wolf currently holds a 25-point lead over incumbent Governor Tom Corbett, bolstered by their diverging approval/favorable ratings, as Wolf picks up 55% of the vote to Corbett’s 30%. Pennsylvania voters have a strongly negative view on Corbett’s job performance, with 27% approving and 58% disapproving of his performance.
On the other hand, voters have a favorable opinion of Tom Wolf by a similar margin, with 47% viewing him favorably compared to only 20% unfavorably. Wolf naturally has strong support amongst Democrats, with 79% of the vote, but also picks up almost a quarter (24%) of the vote from Republicans, and a large majority (63%) of the vote amongst independents.

'Mandela' Screenwriter Blames '12 Years A Slave' For Sucking 'Up All The Guilt About Black People'
Steve McQueen's film "12 Years a Slave" not only received incredible praise from moviegoers and film gurus, it also snagged an Academy Award for Best Picture. But not everyone was happy about the film's success.
William Nicholson, screenwriter for "Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom," spoke out against the movie complaining that McQueen's film stole his thunder. Talk about being a sore loser.
Nicholson discussed the flick this weekend at the Hay Festival in Wales attempting to explain why the movie chronicling the story of Solomon Northup is the reason his biopic "didn't get the kind of acclaim that I wanted."
"I'm incredibly proud of this film. Unfortunately it didn't get the kind of acclaim that I wanted," he told the Daily Telegraph. "It didn't get Oscars.'12 Years a Slave' came out in America and that sucked up all the guilt about black people that was available."
Nicholson continued to stick his foot in his mouth, ultimately ignoring the fact that although the black American struggle with slavery and the South African fight against apartheid are similar, they are two completely different things -- although apparently in his opinion, people are incapable of having too much sympathy for both at the same time.
"They [the audience] were so exhausted feeling guilty about slavery that I don't think there was much left over to be nice about our film...."

Taliban Commander Tells Time Bergdahl Swap Will Encourage More Kidnappings
June 5, 2014
Time magazine received a call Thursday from a Taliban commander who said that the recent prisoner swap for Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl set a precedent for more kidnappings of American soldiers and other valuable targets.“It has encouraged our people,” he said.
The commander, who has been in communication with Time for several years and has previously provided reliable information about Bergdahl, spoke anonymously as he is not authorized to speak with the media. He said he’s been close to negotiations regarding the Bergdahl swap.
“It’s better to kidnap one person like Bergdahl than kidnapping hundreds of useless people,” the commander explained (the Taliban frequently kidnaps Afghan nationals for ransom and leverage).
“Now everybody will work hard to capture such an important bird.”

Renowned Liberal Law Professor: Obama the President Nixon Always Wanted to be
June 4, 2014
Respected liberal professor and constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley, an admitted supporter of many of Obama’s policies who has also been a sharp critic of Obama’s continual abuse of power and unconstitutional actions, compared Obama to another disgraced U.S. president, Richard Nixon.
Appearing on FOX News’ Hannity on Tuesday, Turley discussed with Sean Hannity Obama’s latest criminal activity, breaking a law he signed requiring him to notify Congress thirty days prior to the release of GITMO terrorists, Turley told Hannity,
“Barack Obama is really the president Richard Nixon always wanted to be.”

Susan Rice defends Bergdahl comments, calls his service 'honorable'
June 6, 2014
President Barack Obama's national security adviser said Friday that her full-throated praise of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was appropriate given the former Taliban prisoner's willingness to go to war for his country -- despite questions about whether or not he deserted his Army colleagues.
Susan Rice, who on Sunday said Bergdahl served the United States with "honor and distinction," told CNN in an interview that she was speaking about the fact the Idaho native enlisted and went to Afghanistan in the service of his country.

A D-Day Veteran Politely Declines Obama Invitation
June 6, 2014
This week, George received a call from the White House, who said they knew he would be over in France during D-Day, and wondered if he would attend a private meeting the White House was arranging for veterans with President Obama.
George thought about it for awhile and concluded he just couldn’t.“I have so many issues with the president’s policies, including the most recent ones,” he told me ruefully.“I just couldn’t convince myself to do it.”
He is not alone. The recent Bergdahl prisoner swap in which five hardened Taliban terrorists were released from prison is rubbing a lot of the military veterans attending D-Day events the wrong way.
“It’s not that we don’t want to respect the commander-in-chief,” one told me sadly.“It’s just that he makes it so hard to do so.”
“If you put your ear to this,”

On ‘getting things done,’ Bush has always had Obama beat
Americans think President Obama is a weaker leader than George W. Bush, according to a new poll.
And it's not because they forgot how much they disliked Bush. It's always been that way -- even if people didn't realize it.

Poll: Obama administration less competent than Bush’s or Clinton’s, more say
A majority of voters say the Obama administration is less competent than Bill Clinton's and a plurality say it is less competent than George W. Bush's according to a new Fox News poll released Wednesday.
Sixty-eight percent say the Obama administration is less competent that the Clinton administration.
Forty-eight percent say it is less competent than Bush's, compared to 42 percent who say it is more competent. Seven percent judge Obama's and Bush's the same.
Fifty-five percent say that the Obama administration has made the country weaker; 35 percent say his administration has made it stronger.
The poll was conducted June 1-3 by the Democratic Anderson Robbins Research and the Republican Shaw & Company Research.

Americans are starting to doubt President Obama is a good boss
...So when the once-uber-unpopular Bush polled higher than Obama on competency, we thought maybe -- just maybe -- that Americans were viewing the 43rd president through a rose-colored rearview mirror.
As it turns out, they have been pretty consistent. They have long viewed competency and "getting things done" as more of a Bush thing than an Obama thing.
Obama's competency has long polled slightly higher than his overall approval rating --until last year. And other recent polls show people's views of Obama as a manager of government are right around his overall approval rating.
Not so for Bush.
A look at Bush's presidency shows that Americans consistently rated his competency significantly higher than his overall job performance. I.e. they might not have liked what he was doing, but they still saw him as capable of getting what he wanted, when he wanted it.

Obama fails to show his vaunted ‘competence’
May 25, 2014
Obama came to the White House with a carefully cultivated image for almost preternatural competence — an image no one esteemed more highly than he did.
“I’m a better speechwriter than my speechwriters,” he had told his campaign staff.“I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I’ll tell you right now that ... I’m a better political director than my political director.”
He may still believe it, but most Americans no longer do.
When respondents in a CNN/ORC poll this spring were asked once again about the president’s ability to “manage the government effectively,” a solid majority — 57 percent — said that description does not apply to Obama.
Other surveys get similar results. In four Quinnipiac University polls taken since November 2013, respondents have been asked:“Do you think that in general the Obama administration has been competent in running the government?”
Each time, a majority has said no.
Asked whether the president is “paying attention to what his administration is doing,” only 45 percent say he is.
None of those polls reflects recent coverage of the VA; presumably the numbers would be even harsher if they did.

Kerry:‘Baloney’ that releasing Taliban detainees too risky to US troops
June 08, 2014
“I just think that’s a lot of baloney because, to whatever degree it may be true, they will wind up putting themselves at the mercy of those people who are very effective (at) who are there, who will deal with those guys,” Kerry said.
