You're opposed to Ohio paying to retain the world headquarters of a major tire manufacturer, and yet you are softly suggesting we should travel to Nashville to bail out a bankrupt couch seller?

You coming down to ice skate with me tonight?

You know it is sad. I do not want to see antone lose their job. I bought a Sectional almost 3 years ago and it is Junk. We take care of furniture but the furniture is not taking care of us. For example the batting that your back rests against literally has fallen out of the couch onto the floor. We had to have a repair man come out and fix it twice. The first time he flipped the couch over and stuffed the batting back in and stapled it the second time he came out with a big needle and thread and sewed it shut. Also, the parachute pulls that flip up the leg rests have frayed and poke your fingers when you reach down to pull it. I noticed after moving my couch to clean behind it that the other side is doing it now. Unfortunatly my warranty is up. When the repair man did show up he told me numerous horror stories about Sofa Express and the poor quality of the furniture. He would have monthly meetings in Groveport,Ohio to discuss problems in the field and his boss would put a deaf ear up to him and never fix the problems he would tell them he has found in the field. I will admit when I bought the couch I did not ask what the warranty consisted of and let me tell you the warranty was awful. So from a consumer stand point I am happy this place is finally closing it's door's so other people do not need to go through the crap I did. BYE BYE Sofa Express! You got what had coming to you.

It's not really a big shock that this was coming. Did anyone catch the expose on the news about how their customer service and warranties were falling by the wayside? When the company slacks off on how they treat their customers it is usually a sign of bankruptcy troubles on the horizon.

I guess I didn't see the irony in that there is nothing in common between the two scenarios.

Meahwhile, Ol' Teddy is working hard to bring a Russian steel maker to Southern Ohio. Maybe the folks that won't be selling couches will end up with a better job scenario.

OOOPs there goes another one. Like I say, why would anyone stay in Akron or Ohio. The politicians and voters are ruining it for everyone. Let the politicians and these idiot police state voters have this washed up state all to themselves. They can pay all the taxes. If Goodyear has any brains at the helm they will also leave. I suuggest that anyone that can leave Ohio leave and don't look back. This whole country is being destroyed by politicians that do not represent the middle and lower class. We have no representation. The ACLU should be looking into why that is.

Sofa Express is the kind of company you should not want to deal with at all. Their BBB report shows 7 compalints in the last 12 months in Akron. Typically only 10% get reported toi the BBB. Good companies have "0" BBB complaints.

The news reported that broken sofa bed not too long ago that Sofa Express said was being used too much, and that's why it broke. What kind of customer satisfaction is that? This could turn into another High Point disaster for customers, so if you have any outstandings with them, I suggest you get them resolved ASAP with your money back.

What the hell is the matter with the logic centers of the brains of some of you?

Sofa Express is a RETAILER based in some completely different place (Nashville). The State of Ohio and the City of Akron, as inept as they are, literally could do NOTHING about it.

That would be akin to blaming Akron for not doing enough to keep x-hundred number of jobs if Macy's were to go under.

Wrong. Where is Sofa Express moving to?

Nowhere. They went bankrupt. Check out the BBB on these guys. They lost their accredidation with the BBB because of complaints.

Stop your ignorant crap, Beta. You always try to turn the tables when your blatant stupidity is called out. As usual, you failed. Just like talking like an educated adult.

While you're also spewing your ignorant crap, this has nothing to do with Akron OR Ohio. You dumbasses who try to involve Akron and Summit County is simply amazing.

This is about a business that was run poorly. To say the least.

I've seen alot more with them and the BBB. Maybe you're looking at specific stores.

The only recourse one would have is if they paid with the credit card. If anyone paid with cash, check or debit (all stupid), they are screwed. With all of the retailers like this that have closed their doors over the past few years, whenever I make a major purchase, it's ALWAYS on a credit card. Then I pay it off.

We went through the same negative experience with sofa express a couple years back and had to take them to court to resolve the simple matter. Not how I would have taken care of the situation, as a retail store manager, but a company is only as good as the people it has in place to represent it.Same old "we already got your money with complicated or misleading advertising, so what if your not happy,we don't care". Well, we won't miss you sofa express and more.By the way, what MORE did they ever offer after that name change?

The BBB is as Useless as tits on a Boar HOG…
They are also misleading. They only tell you about UNANSWERED complaints. A company can have HUNDREDS of complaints. But they will only discuss the unanswered ones.

Unless they started doing things Different. All it takes is someone to write a response back to them.
U see they dont want a bunch of lawsuits for But still want to look like they have some power and influence.

People think the BBB has some type of authority over businesses…. But they are as impotent as a 90 year old man with out a prescription for Viagra.

I went in to the establishment on britain rd and practically begged them to take my money on this table and 2 chairs that were on clearance, i wanted to give them 50 dollars less that what they were asking for it and he kept telling me no. The store manager was off on family leave and he did not have the authority to make the sale. I agree with this writer when you treat your customers like %*^% what ever comes down the pike for you is what you get. Maybe we will get another company in the buildings that know how to treat consumers. Come on now it was on CLEARANCE

I was in the store on brittain rd where they had A table and chair selling separately in the basement where the clearance items were. I had to find a floor person to inform to let him know I wanted to purchase the table for $50 less they were asking $350. he told me he could not take the cash I offered. said the store manager was on family medical leave and I would have to talk to her, this was crazy to me cause she did not come back to work for 1 week, I continued to go up there in that week to try to change his mind, he would not budge, I did not get to speak to the manager when i called she was there,I was put on hold. I just gave up and took my money to Northcoast furniture on canton rd. I am very happy with my dining room set. Come on now it was on CLEARANCE..... Maybe my little 300 dollars would not have saved the company but it sure would have helped. Sorry for the families who are going to be jobless, but when one door closes another one opens. god bless you all and MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Nuthin' in common??? I guess y'all didn't mean it when y'all was cheerleadin' for the city and the jobs that were to be saved by the GY deal. Savin' a job, is savin' a job.

Spent millions to save 2900 jobs, turned a blind eye to 900. How equitable.
