Despite voting to open its arms to people of all sexual orientations, the Medford Congregational United Church of Christ does not want to be known simply as "the gay church," a congregation member said.

I was privileged to be present when the Cleveland Heights Christina Church near Buffalo, NY voted to become an open and affirming church to the LTGB community. I was inspired by the vote and praise the Medford Congregational United Church of Christ for doing the same.

I'm happy that the United Church of Christ and its affiliates realize that Paul of Tarsus was not the last word and that God is *still* speaking.

Until relocating my place of residence last year, I was (and still am) a member of the Sayville Congregational United Church Of Christ. The year before I moved, we celebrated our 150th Anniversary !

Sayville Congregational United Church Of Christ became an ONA church a few years before I joined. I just happened to read an article in the newspaper about the church and decided to check it out.

I had no idea that the pastor, the first woman hired as a pastor in the church's then 140 year history, was gay. I was also surprised to find that about 25% of the congregation was gay. I joined the church and for 14 years I attended services and other activities there regularly and I am proud to say it was the best and most enjoyable church I ever attended. Why ? BECAUSE OF THE CHRISTIAN PEOPLE THERE !:)

Although I relocated my place of residence a few hundred miles, and have joined another church about 25 miles from my house, I still maintain my membership at Sayville Congregational United Church Of Christ, and hope to return there one day soon.
