Good wins today by the middle school teams. The 8th grade played two games (East Carter and Raceland) and won both improving to 10-4 on the year. The 7th grade grade won one game today beating East Carter going 8-4 on the year.

Good job BCMS players and coaches.

I have a question for those of you close to the situation. What is Coach Wooten's background? Does he have coaching experience? Can he improve this program when the talent level comes up? Sorry, that's 3 questions. Just really curious about this.

I've kind of wondered about the above post myself. Will they keep him long enough to give him a chance? If there is indeed some good players coming up, is it better to wait and see what he can do with them?

Boyd Co Basketball has dominated the 16th region before, and will again. Now that Zornes is finally gone, hopefully we will get a coach in the future with an actual philosophy; like we had when Jeep Clark was coach. As far as favortism; it has always been that way for BC athletics. The Summit and Cannonsburg kids always had the inside track to the BBall team. THe Cattletsburg and Ironville Kids never had a chance, with Peanut Fraley a rare exception. Now that Ironville elementary no longer exists, maybe the Ironville kids get a chance.

The talent level, facilities, and fan base are there. It is up to the coach to bring the interest, and play the guys who are out there. In the 80's we could have started a whole other team out of the players passed over, and Fairveiw, Holy Family, and Russell were full of Boyd County Transfers on their rosters. Now, we are letting Rose Hill, a "never was" program, that 20 yrs ago was a church league team, steal the players. That is where coaching can make a difference. Identify players, use who we have, and don't let politics or parents get in the way.

Anyone have any updates on who might be the new coach at Boyd Co. and what players might come back and if there are any coming up for next year? Just wondering if there is going to be much to look forward to next year?

what they need to do is give young coaches a chance to begin there careers where they put in the time, sweat and tears at. Guys who know tradition and what it takes to be successful. We all know they have passed up some potential young coaches..jason davis, frankie conley

you are so very right on this. I see it at the middle school already. You start a season and have players go through weeks of practice and then after season starts they let other players on team. Then those players just because of who they are, are given more playing time over the players who have been there since first practice giving 110%. It's not that they are better than any other player but just who they are they get to play. I can see where kids don't want to play. I've never seen such ass kissing in my life as I've seen in this county. If my kid isn't good enough to play I don't want them playing.

you are right.coaches in elementary and middle school all ready have their starting 5 for high school,so they think.how about the other kids on the bench,no wonder they lose interest and will not play anymore.real coaches work with all the kids and want them to improve.BC coaches do not they are afraid they may get better than their favorites.POLITICS.Its time to clean house.
