My family went to the Roadhouse tonight. It was horrible. Our steaks were dry and luke warm. I think they were cooked, then put in the microwave to heat up. My order was wrong. Once child did not get her salad until we asked for it. The same child did not get her meal and when theyfinally put the order in and brought it to her to go because we had already eat all we could stomache and were ready to leave, they didn't bring her side dish just the meat. The hour and a half we were sitting at our table the manager was 2 tables up talking to the people at that table. When we were finally able to get the manager to our table he tried the "passify and shut you up" trick. Didn't work too well for him. I told him he wasn't doing his job any better than the kitchen did theirs because he was socializing instead of working. He told me his job was to visit with the customers. I informed him he had been at that table the whole time I had been seated which was atleast an hour and twenty minutes and his job was to check on all the customer's and to make sure that his employees were doing their jobs properly. I will not be back for at least a couple of months and hopefully a management change. I know as an ex-manager I can be picky but the whole family was disappointed. I paid for my meal except for the one child's meal. The manager did offer to take care of it, however as I told him, people do complain sometimes for no reason to get the free meal. I wanted him to take me serious and to fix the issues. I don't think he did which is why I am on here. It doesn't seem to be just the Roadhouse either. Most of the restraunts in the area give sub par service and food. When I travel out of town the quality of the service and food is almost always far above what we get at home. I think we are so used to poor quality we have become used to it and let it slide. Well I am done with dropping 90-120 on food and service that sucks. From now on I will be telling everyone and anyone who will listen when I have a bad experience!

Damn right! Times are hard and it should be a treat to take your family out to a mid-priced rest. like the roadhouse, instead you are frustrated and unsatisfied with the whole exp. I can buy a weeks worth of groceries for what you pay for a family of four to eat and it should be a pleasant and filling trip out to eat and instead you feel cheated and aggravated.

My friend went there to eat and had a similar experience. The food took a long time to come, it was cold and they did'nt bring one of the salads til the meal was nearly over. She left an appropiatly low tip for this lousy service and sub-standard food. The waiter folowed her to the car and gave her tip back with a smart-assed remark about her needing it worse than him.

I think the original poster mentioned that she used to be a manager in food service; maybe she believes she can run it better (pandering for a job).
My family and I had a pleasant experience at the Roadhouse on the 23rd; it was packed ( 1.5 hour wait) so we went to the mall. WHne out buzer went off I called them as we were still at the mall and they held our table for us. Food and service were great.
Finally, those of us who have worked in food service understand that sometimes things can be ut of our control and we do the best we can remembering everything for x amount of tables. Furthermore, these servers work hard for the tips they get and by cheating them out of a tip to save you some money (as I know a lot of peopel look for reason not to tip) is wrong. If you cannot afford/or be willing to tip 15% do not go out and eat. Then again, we live in a self serving society so I will stop.

Welcome to Ashland, the city of mediocrity! The roadhouse sucks just like every other restaurant in Ashland. There's a reason the roadhouse in Lexington isn't even busy.

I am not pandering for a job. I have a job. This was not the first time I have had a bad experience there. It has been consistantly going down hill each time. I had high hopes they would resolve their problems and should have had low expectations. I did not stiff the waitress. I can afford to go out to eat. But just because I can afford it doesn't mean I should accept poor quality.

I have to agree with the above poster. We haven't been there for about six months for the very reasons you speak of. Prior to our last three (yes, three) experiences the service was acceptable but not stellar. The last times we dined there, we had parts of our order missing, and getting a drink refill was like pulling teeth. Not to mention the half-hour to an hour wait to be seated.
I have waited tables in the past for a couple of restaurants, so I do know THAT side of it. Your server may not be responsible for the speed of the food out of the kitchen, but at the very least could keep your mouth from being dry and updated on the status of your order (or even check with you about what you did/did not receive).
I, too, shall wait a while before eating there again...if ever. We travel out of town quite often, so when we do, we eat out at those times. It is true that restaurants outside this area cater a bit more to a patron's needs. Paying attention to those who are the reason you have a paycheck should be paramount, but it isn't always the case here.

The last time I was there the music was so loud I couldn't hear my waiter. I am not a country music fan, sorry. But, it is a roadhouse, so... Also, the food has gone way down in quality since their early years of operation. I think they need to spend less time dancing and clapping their hands like a bunch of trained monkeys and take care of their patrons. The show is old and without entertainment value. But, I don't have to eat there, now do I?

Yes, this is totally unacceptable. Every order placed by every customer should be filled perfectly and within a reasonable amount of time. If not, the server and manager should be beheaded at the table of the self-entitled, gluttonous pig who complained so loudly.

Now, let's line dance!!!

I'm not sure when u have been to the one in lexington, but i got there usually once a week and it is ALWAYS packed! Even when i just drive past, it's ALWAYS hopping...the wait is usually anywhere from 15-30 minutes depending on the time of day/eve...food is almost always correct, on time and the wait staff is usually always courteous and helpful. The two times in the last 18 years that food or service was not up to par...our entire meal was comp'd...Not sure what your problem with Lexington's Roadhouse is, but it is definitely busy...

Actually 15 minutes is about average for a place that is efficient...If you are seated and your drink order is taken immediately and the kitchen staff is competent and everyone is served at a steady pace...yeah, that's pretty average anywhere on a week day...now, obviously, if it's an occassion, mother's day, valentine's day, etc the wait is much much longer and the weekend wait is usually 30 min....hence 15-30 minutes depending on time of day/eve...

Well, which is it? The food or the service or both which "sucked."

I eat there some, and the food and service have always been good. Sometimes people have off-days or off-moments.

Might consider the source for all of this. To post what looks like about 20 lines worth of complaint suggests that this person takes things a little personal and too far.

It is mentioned in the post that they didn't pay for one of the meals. Goes to show that the Roadhouse tried to make it right.

Then again, a bad restaurant experience is devastating. In my opinion, the FBI needs to get involved...maybe the ACLU...probably both.
