Paper the paper the board gave out titled "Fairview Schools utility Levy Facts and Figures" the second paragraph, we get what 3 % is on each and every utility bill. Third paragraph one thing stood out was about school district boundaries cannot be changed. Why worry then so much about the ofd students? Fourth paragraph, Westwood residents do in fact pay one of the highest property tax rates in the state according to records on the Kentucky Revenue site. The nickel tax mentioned that BC and Ashland have would add about $50 to a $100,000 home and $25 to a $50,000 home so NO THIS DOES NOT Bring these districts more in line when their tax rates are for BC, 52.8 and for Adhland 55.9 while Fairview's is at 68.9. And then there is the line at the end of paragraph 4 that I agree with is "misquotes do extreme harm in a volatile environment". I just see the board doing this!!

They are lieing and conniving to get that tax passed so they can do more work at the football field! Westwood residents aren't stupid the boe just thinks we are!

Hate, hate, hate on both sides. Let's just flip a coin and be done with it.
#961 Feb 1, 2013
Do you really believe that? If you do then I've got a really good piece of land with an Oceanside view in Idaho that I'll sell ya real cheap.
#962 Feb 1, 2013
Well gee I don't know let me see first they decide to have a meeting the day after Christmas ( hoping everyone is to busy to come) then so if there is a recall the election will be on Feb the snowiest, coldest month of the year, then they sue the committee to try and stop the election, then hire a outside company to spread lies to the community but deny having hired the company and now the wording that will be on the ballot is very confusing and misleading so YEAH I see a little conniving going on open your eyes farther than their Butts and you could see the same thing!
#963 Feb 1, 2013
Look at the facilities plan and you will see 633,000+ dollars on it for the fields, mainly football along with several million in other expenses that are not educationally relavent like expanding the administrative office at the high school or improvements to family res. and Central Office. Yep, the truth really does suc when you get to looking at how much money the board put down on the Facilities Plan (notice no new high school is on it, that was bs) for items that are not dire toy related to educating kids. It sux and it makes me sick!!!!
#964 Feb 1, 2013
Sorry auto correct, should be "directly related"
#965 Feb 1, 2013
So if you don't want the tax vote "yes" to recall it. REMBER THAT FOLKS!! The wolves in sheeps clothing are at it again
#966 Feb 1, 2013
IF YOU ARE AGAINST THE TAX, VOTE YES TO REPEAL IT!!!!!
#967 Feb 1, 2013
And what does that have to do with the football field? That's what I was talking about.
#968 Feb 1, 2013
I haven't seen the plan but I will for sure look at it. Where did you see it? You are right. No new high school. And I think that all fields would be included in the plan.
#969 Feb 1, 2013
What do you mean? Who are the wolves?
#970 Feb 1, 2013
go to the Kentucky Dept of Education Website, go to District/school Suport ( on blue on the left), go to the Word Facilities, go to overview, go to Facility Planning on the left, go down to the blue word +title: District Facility plan, go to Fairview and open the document. Take the time to look at what is really needed for educational purposes. Also, look at the districts most current budget which reflects a $830,000+ gain in revenue. Also, Fairview has a nice size contingency fund over and above the percentage required. Maybe not all the wants but the needs could be met at the current property tax rate. Let us know what you think.

It would also be good for the 40% of out of district students to add to the revenue at the BOE office to help with their educational cost over what the state pays. Included in their educational cost of course facilities, The nine new classrooms would not be needed at a cost of Over $1,600,000 if the out of district kids were not here.

Please look at the facilities plan. No new school!! Some items educationally relavent, some not. Remember Boyd County got a whole new 48 million dollar high school with their taxes, Fairview will not. Boyd County has a 3% utility tax but a much lower property tax rate. For the average property tax payer in Fairview they already pay close to what the typical tax payer in Boyd county pays. Here is the math: property tax rate in Boyd county is 52.8 for each 1,000 dollars of property tax value. Say the have $100,000 in their home and cars this would make their school tax $528, plus $50 for their nickel tax, plus $150 in utility tax equals $728. Now look at Fairview's tax rate at 68.9. The same $100,000 in property taxes in Fairview would be $689 ( with the utility tax amount given out by he board of $150 this would make the tax load $839 and still not have a new school). Food for thought here people.
#975 Feb 1, 2013
Now keep in mind 2.2 of thr 12 million on the plan are currently being done,
#977 Feb 2, 2013
Without the central office and administrative offices our school would close down! These are the people that keep our school operating on a day to day basis! The family resource center helps so many children and familes in this area and they currently have a tiny office in the elementary school. Everything that is mentioned in the plans is to benefit the children. all of the kids...Everyone from the athletes to the kids that are involved in the arts(hence the stage) to every single child enrolled in FHS that will be using the computer lab on a daily basis. The staff and administration love our kids. i have never seen an atmosphere like the one at ALL of the Fairview Independent Schools! The people that are on here slandering the BOE and Mr.Musick should be ashamed of themselves! They are ALL great people that the community elected. Seriously, you people will bitch about anything! You will twist and turn everything until it is in your favor. Look on your current utility bills. You are paying the damn tax already, it's just going to another school district. So go ahead and vote to recall the tax. All you are doing is punishing our children and paying your money to another school district that will benefit kids you don't even know...
#978 Feb 2, 2013
I certainly hope that your child or children carry a 4.0 gpa because apparently your kids don't need any extra curricular activities or clubs to put on their college applications! Everything on the plan is beneficial to all the students in relation to their future educational plans.
