It is a shame that there are so many people that cheat on their spouses and think it is ok. KDMC is the worst! I think everyone in that hospital cheats and they worry about sex more than they worry about pts. There are so many hurt people over this hospital. Fred Jackson needs to stand up and fire the people that are dating one another in that hospital!
Um, all Fred Jackson cares about is locking all tv channels to Fox news. Seriously, next time you go, just try to change a channel.

My grandmother fell and broke her leg about a month ago. The nurses were logging that she was given her pain meds but she was not. We filled a complaint and have heard nothing else. She also got MRSA while there after her surgery. Thankfully the next nurse that was assigned to her was wonderful and everything turned out ok. She is 80 years old and just a few years ago won a battle against cancer. Then this. And then it seemed like a constant battle with the hospital during her stay.

I remember back in the mid-70'S this was a very competent hospital. I enjoyed my training there as a paramedic in the first class to graduate. Only two remain in the service today. Larry and Bill. To you both, I say hello. King's Daughters' Hospital will always have a special place in my heart. it is where I learned a profession and afterward, went on to perform well as an R.N in ER/ICU settings. Both Dr. Webb and Riestra were the best a young man could be trained by, and the other people who went through the program with me, or me with them, I couldn't have asked for a more supportive group of guys and gals. I am so sorry to hear the hospital is in the condition it is if all this is true. Every place has its faults and shortcomings. When the administration turns a deaf ear to the public's complaints, it suddenly declines to the community's health care center. To all of you who know who I am, I remember you all fondly and have not forgotten any of you. We've lost a few, and I miss each one of you. I would love to see you all again, and mayvbe someday I will. Hopefully the public will continue to try and change this now. medical center for the better. It was once a quality place ER, ICU, OB/GYN, Psych, med/surg. With the public pressure, and consistent demands for better healthcare, the place has to respond to your voices. If not, it will have to be sold to a corporation who will listen and take some action. I had a great time in Ashland. Wish I had never left. The summers, winters springs and falls, Ashland was quite a place where I learned a profession, and retain great memories. Good luck to you all.

My KDMC feelings are mixed, to say the least. I think the ER staff, as well as security staff is top notch. Some of the other departments in the hospital leave something to be desired. Staff is not my issue with KDMC. My issue is the Ashland is becoming the City of King's Daughters, KY. I understand that the hospital is a large employer in Ashland, however, Ashland does whatever KDMC says. A good example of this is the smoking ordinance. As a smoker, I have to walk 47 miles, across Lexington Ave. and up, then over to Hilton Ave. Even standing in the middle of the street is not allowed, even though you are off hospital property, and more than 20 feet from any exit. This is ridiculous. I understand that smoke is offensive to some people, but a hospital is not going to dictate how I live! The bottom line is that KDMC execs have City of Ashland execs on puppet strings. Just my opinion, take it or leave it.

I have nothing good to say about KDMC. My mother died there. They operated on her several times, trying to fix everything except what ultimately killed her. The same thing happened to a co-worker several years ago. I even had an EMT ask if I was sure I wanted them to take my mom to KDMC, that she'd have a better chance at OLBH. I should have listened. My daughter was in the ER once for 3 hours. I picked her up from KDMC, since she was in no condition to drive, and took her to OLBH and they ran her vitals and was taken back and treated right away. Who knows, she may have expired right there in the ER at KDMC.

Why do you think the ER is so busy at KDMC, because it is the best and not OLBH. You can go to OLBH and be guaranteed to be seen in 30 minutes or less or you get a free pizza. What they don't advertise is that is if you don't get triaged. I've seen my grandfather lay in OLBH ER for 8 hours then dismissed. Waits happen in any ER in this country.

Well.... When you go outside of this county all you hear about is how wonderful KDMC is. Every hospital has problems. Defiantly if it is a big hospital. The hospital is understaffed but now they just hired about 100 more nurses. That should take care of most of it. The hospital keeps growing and they're not hiring fast enough.

Some of the nurses I've dealt with aren't very good, but some of them are the opposite. Most every hospital is the same. There are good experiences and bad experiences.

They also practice Primary Care nursing which means that RN does most of everything. They have some CMTs but not enough to go around. For the most part the RN has to take care of 8 pts and do all of their daily care such as their baths, linen changes, vitals along with all their paperwork, charting, wound care. Its just too much for one person to do. I do agree that it would be better for this hospital if they had a lower patient to nurse ratio.

As for the ER nobody is going to have a pleasant trip to the ER. Thats just the way it is. Nobody is happy when they are there. So pretty much an experience that you have in the ER is gonna be a bad one.

But those are just my opinions.

My husband just went to the ER the other night. The idiot dr. ran some tests and told him he had a blood clot in his chest, he gave him a shot and sent him home!!! He has since went to his regular physician and she sent him for some tests at Bellefonte. Those tests came back that there was no blood clot and he was just under too much stress. He says he will NEVER go back to KDMC.
Did you happen to consider that the lovenox shot he got already busted up the clot in his chest? Just a thought-don't jump down my throat!!

The KDMC ER is so busy because the drug addicts know they can get a fix there when the other hospitals refuse.

I had lower back surgery back then and the care was nonexistant. My husband came in to find me laying in a pool of blood (drain in the incision came out) along with no call light within my reach and my face smashed against the bed rail on the side. I was not able to turn or move without assistance yet, so he was pretty mad and got the nurses moving. It was my worst hospital experience ever. Also, the Urgent Care in Portsmouth has one good NP...the other one is awful. I've had her twice and will never go there again. I'll drive to OLBH or die in the gutter on the way before I'll get near KDMC.

ANYBODY know who one of the redheaded nurses is, possibly a receptionist. Never been crazy about redheads (never been turned off by them either ;] ), but this one in particular may be the most beautiful woman I've ever seen.. Realize it's not a lot of information to go on but would love to be reacquainted. Very sweet girl, any info would be great. Thanks

I can tell you why the ER is so busy, drug addicts can go there and ask for dilada and moriphine and get there fix and sent home. My sister does it regularly.
