There are several RN in the emergency and critical care departments at KDMC that like to do drugs.

This is not rumor, yet fact. KDMC rarely drug test.

Here's the problem:

Drug test = failures = liability law suits against KDMC for malpractice.

Think about that. Isn't that scary?

Case in point: King's Daughters Heart Doctor arrested on Drug Charges http://www.wsaz.com/news/headlines/33892419.h...

Now this was a few years ago, but I promise it is still happening. I have seen RN and Doctors using drugs while "on the clock."

Again, FACT: if KDMC acknowledges this, then they are going to be bombarded with malpractice law suits from every harry and dick that's ever been admitted or had procedures done there.

Isn't that sad? That's the sad truth.

I didn't read the story but the title seems to only implicate a doctor. my question is what proof do you have of the drug use?

Pictures of some of these wild parties with emergency room RN's, as well as doctors, smoking pot and snorting "white powdery substances."

Also, at times with a couple of the RN's, you can find underage(18-20) year old people with them consuming alcohol.

Fact is, this will never amount to anything. AGAIN, drug test? Do you really think KDMC will EVER administer a drug test to the ER staff?

Hey, look. I like these people. Some are my friends and I like to party with them. I DO like to drink and have a good time, from time to time.

It scares the hell out of me knowing that a good portion of these people haven't grown up enough to stop doing drugs. Especially while they are employed in the medical field.

This isn't an attempt to slander or otherwise be a personal attack upon anyone. It's the truth.

None the less, KDMC will NEVER administer a drug test to the ER staff.

Actually Kdmc drug tests quite a few employees, and yes some ER staff have been tested. No positives so far on the random program. Gotten some on preemployment, and that's just stupid because they know about this weeks ahead of time. So.....no job for them

First of all, I have partied with the ER people and I have not once seen any of them do drugs. I am not saying that it doesnt happen. However, you posting nonsense like that is simply bullshit and you know it! You must be someone that is jealous! Just because people in the ER go out and have fun that means they do drugs? Come on! Learn to get your story straight because you dont have a clue what you are talking about.

Negative amigo. They DO NOT random test. They only test pre employment.

Thanks for the comment.

Jealous? No. Not jealous by no means. I have a great job and I make a substantially greater amount than most employees at KDMC.

However, I think it is scary that some of these people are doing cocaine and snorting pills. Thus, how is this posting BS?

Would you want somebody that has been up all night on cocaine or had recently snorted a couple of pills to render emergency care to you or your family?

By the way, I am have no problem with people that party, as I party myself. However, my job doesn't require me to provide emergency care to people that could have a lasting impact on their lives.

Again, dear friend, how is this BS? Furthermore, get what story straight? There have been numerous news articles within the past 5 years about this subject. Not sure how you have become confused, unless you indeed are one of the drug using staff members.

Doubt it. There's one that's been to rehab but that's old news. Yes, I'm sure there are people at the hospital who use drugs. There's 4500 people or more working there, odds are that there are drug users. But I don't think it's as bad as some make it out to be. Most of us realize we're lucky to have jobs, we're not gonna jeopardize it

I hope they get you for slander! Your articles that you are reading have NOTHING to do with the emergency dept. so give it up! Again, get your story straight! Please post just "one" article that you have read or one FACT that you have that proves that people in the ER are doing drugs. Please post that! However, if you dont, I suggest you keep your mouth shut because your IP address can be tracked and people can take legal action against you. It is obvious that KDMC is not drug free as they would like to be from past issues. However, I do not recall any of those issues being related to the ER. Again, get your story straight. And no, I am the farthest thing from a drug user than you will ever meet. I hate them!(And hate is a strong word)Just a little warning....you might want to be careful :) KDMC has much more money than you do and more pull!

First, I'm an ER nurse. Second, if any nurse in the ER does drugs they hide it pretty damn well. There have been random drug tests, I assure you. If YOU party with us so much and "know" that we are a bunch of druggies then wouldn't that make you one too? And if you say no, then you tolerate it. Isn't that almost, if not just as bad? I welcome any drug test given to me. I don't know why you have to get on here and start some random shit about drug tests and nurses in the ER. Obviously there is more to this story than what your saying.

As for Dr. Van Deren, he's been back at the hospital doing heart cath's and his patients not only know about his past (hard not to know since it was on the news for days when it happened), they LOVE him.

If you are so concerned and KNOW that you are right, then post some names. If it's the truth then you can't get sued for slander or defamation of character. Plus if you name some names then the nurses that are such a "danger" to the area and it's residents would be saved. You've stirred the shit, are you ready to serve it?

Since September? Are you serious? Four months already? Thanks for your imput, yet I'm not so sure this qualifies as a reasonable answer.

Come back after you've witnessed a good 12 months or more.

You dumba$$, you can't "sue" somebody for slander in Commonwealth of Kentucky. What is up with you pillbillies? That's the first or second thing out of your mouths.

That's slander... thats not right. We'll sue you.

Geeez... I love it here. Go crush crush sniff sniff you pillbillie. In the mean time, go post something else about how you know somebody that sued somebody for slander and won and how they'll trace our ISP's and put us in prison.

In the mean time, I'll concentrate on making sure my family knows to take me to OLBH in order to receive emergency care in order to avoid you pillbillies there.

how is it not a reasonable answer? It's factual. Truth is, ransoms have been going on since September. Reasonable suspicion screenings have been going on for years. A girl from ER registration (who did not hang with the ER staff regularly, yes I know this for a fact, she used to be a friend before she started her drug habit) got fired for being messed up on pills on the job. I know of a housekeeper who got fired for being drunk on the clock. If there's cause to believe an employee is messed up while working, then more than likely they're gonna get tested.
