Pugs require special care. Very different care for this breed, than just a normal dog. If you truly cared for the breed you would not be posting about them on Topix, you would be going through vets and etc., and more importantly you would be screening people to be assured they would be able to care for your Pugs.
Pugs do not have the same temperature regulators in their bodies as other dogs and are very prone to heat stroke. They cannot handle cold, either. They come with a host of repiratory problems and most need daily medications for allergies. They require intubation for all surgeries and have a thing called "reverse sneezing" where part of their breathing tube actually closes, sometimes for no apparent reason. Not to mention Stenotic nares, which requires surgery ,just so that your pug can breathe normally through his nose.
Please, if you are buying or selling Pugs, be aware of what their care is and that they are very high maintenance dogs, requiring alot of your attention.

Pugs are GREAT dogs!! My Sophie is 10 years old and still as sweet as ever. What "Vet Tech" says is true though, you need to know what you're getting into. Sophie has skin allergies and sheds like crazy year round (typical for the breed). And she does have those "reverse sneezing" fits where I sometimes have to massage her throat to help her out. If you have the time and love to give, I recommend adding a pug to your family!!

So the puppies are the product of a brother and sister mating? Or were the male and female from different litters?
I am not "downing" anyone who breeds pugs. I only want people to be very aware when taking a pug that they will need to be more of a pet owner than throwing some food and water down everyday and thinking that will do. Which, unfortunately, is the case with alot of pet owners.
The facts I do know is that many people see a pug, fall in love with their smushed little face, and do not have a clue that these are not your normal, run of the mill dogs. They require so much more care.
I feel you became very defensive over what was my attempt to stop a pug from falling into the wrong hands.People want to have a dog, but they do not want the responsibility that comes with it, and with pugs there is alot of responsibility. If you loved the breed as much as I do, I feel you would be agreeable and not defensive. That tells me alot.

i didnt go get all defensive over the whole Pug owner thang just the point you thought im doin this for a living or whatever and no they are not brother and sister she bought them from two differ people she just couldnt keep them because her land lord wouldnt let her....and about being a pug owner believe me i got plenty of exsperience ive had one for 16 years and not once did she have problems...WHY????? because i had parents whom explained everything to me when i was oyunger about them befor e they got me one the only thing i had with my pug and only problem and that was the shedding and the shedding u cant really do much about but keep to keep up with it and as a pug lover and owner i did that...and will do same with our two babies we have now and their lil ones until they find a home but since u are so worried about em shoot come o down buy them all if u like and go do whatever u wanna do with em since u think they might go to wrong hands you know how many peeps do this and really dont give a crap alot what do people do? still continue to go buy them anyways...im no breeder or running some kinda mill or whatever just a gal trying keep her kids happy buy getting them wha tmommy had when i was lil sorry my daughter looks up to me ALOT shes my angel and i love it .....but what else we gonna do just give puppies away for free um i think not id rather somone pay something because if they gonna pay purdy dollar for one that most likely means they gonna care for it and love it ....But to u VET TECH thanks for info but no more needed towards me because i know how to raise pugs and care for them and what to look foward to....now others whom are thinking about buying one yes its true there alot to look faward to when owning a pug or even a english bull dog they need alot of care and attention so to all the ones whom looking for pugs i now got 2 left 2 boys have already been choosen and deposit on them so if u want one let me know thank you.

Go to the shelter instead and save a life. People need to do the responsible thing and have their pets fixed. That's why the shelter is full all the time and its why they have to kill them because people keep breeding these poor dogs for money. There are so many wonderful dogs there. $50 and they have their shots and you get a voucher to have them fixed.
