My son LOVES to play baseball. He lives to play baseball. Hes played BC for years now. My concern is for the funds that we pay, and never see in return to the kids for it. Theres no money to fix the bathrooms, so money for tournaments, tournament trophies. The concession stand brings in LOTS of money, yet doesnt make a profit. HOW does that not make a profit! They (president, his daughter and a buddy) set up board meetings, and they dont show, when they do show they say they are private and only a select few get to vote on matters. This place is corrupt, and people are making money off of this. They've been reported over and over, and LL does nothing. What does anyone suggest?

BTW, this has NOTHING to do with BC high school baseball, this is Little League only, at Fraley field!

I've also wondered about this. I know they're making a lot of improvements for the coming year, but this money is coming from county funds the league is entitled to. So, who gets all the money - entry fees, concession stands, fund raisers????

Thats my point exactly. They do fundraisers throughout the season. There is NO new equipment aloud to get bought. They owe a sporting good store, bunches of money for seasons past. They say its for insurance, and sewer and water, but county now pays sewer and water. Entry fees were $55 this year. They sold magazines and raffle tickets. Who has this money?

That is the million dollar question---where does this money go. Start counting the players at 55.00 each, a little chunk of change, plus all the other mentioned things. I have been wondering the same things for quite awhile and wonder if someone is lining their pockets with money that is intended for the upkeep, never mind improvements.
The place is run down and embarassing when you go to other fields and see what those kids have to play on. what a shame.

Its super embarrassing! But I heard just about an hour ago, someone who talked to David Salisbury, said they new fields wont be done for this upcoming season. Go figure!! Not that I expected it anyway. But when the president of the league comes around with blue prints on opening day showing everyone what "HE" got started, you would think that something would come of it. But I do have a good idea whose pocket its going in though...

sounds like an investigation should be started by the sheriff or a grand jury inquiry made

baseball know it all mom,run for a board position.this is the problem most parents want to bitch and complain but when they need volunteers nobody wants to step up.its been this away for years.if the league was doing something wrong little league would b the first to step in.theres a handful of people always starting trouble and we know who u r i guess we will see u next meeting instead of hiding behind a computer.

sounds like somebody has a problem. baseballmom is just wondering and so are alot of people. I am sure there are people who would volunteer. no need to act ugly and threaten people for speaking their mind.

I am just wondering, I pay money as does alot of people and cant figure out where it goes to. I dont care if you know who I am, or who you think that I am, Im concerned for the program. I see other programs who run off the concession stand money, but this place cant seem to do it.

i agree, but part of the problem is that in the past we had to pay teenagers to run the concession, the league also pays umpires anywhere from 4500 to 6000 aseason.baseballs approx.25 dollars a dz at 25 to 30 dz.league fees and player ins.approx 1200 until this past yr the league pd. approx 2000 for brick dust and sand for the fields.their are hidden cost in any league that the public are not aware of but the league is going to make changes this season including the concession but we need parents and coaches to help to make this a sucessful program

Something needs to be done before it ends up like Fannin Park did. Boyd County needs a good feeder program for the JV and High School and this is where it starts. I agree that more parents need to get involved and I think more parents need to get their kids interested in playing sports instead of video games all day. Everyone needs to get up and do something before it all falls apart and you have nothing

There are two fields at Fannin Park that are in great condition and are well taken care of. They had a wonderful turn out this past summer in the tournaments, and yes just like every program there is work that has to be done to make it successfull.

A question about paying umpires... isn't little league supposed to be 100% volunteer?

ask any local little league they all pay certified umpires.the reason is because it keeps coaches and parents from argueing with them.it is sad how some adults act out there but it is in every league ashland, westwood, cattlettsburg, boyd.we have tried to get the coaches or managers to umpire games but it is not worth the trouble.if u know of any volunteer umpires please let us know.

Perhaps in the past the league paid teens to run the concession stand, but the past few years the parents have also paid that. I believe we paid $10 (per kid) to fund the workers (or we could volunteer to work ourselves - which no one did). It is my understanding that no one on the board realized that the county was actually financially responsible for the upkeep/improvements of the fields until this past year. That being said, the league fees should be decreasing substantially this year since they won't need as much money for the fields, correct?

Some keep saying about how sad Fannin Park is and the way it has turned out. Has any of you that made these commetns been there since they have been redone for the two fields and the bathrooms. Yes the picnic area has not been updated and not sure if it ever will, but I know the two teams that play there keep it clean and really looks like it use too. I sit on my porch and watch them they are committed to working hard and making it like it use to be when BC----AABC baseball was played here.
