What do you all think about Pathways? Who is the best therapist there that you would reccommend?

They have low cost and free mental help which is better than nothing....but not the best.

Unless they have made significant improvements then its a joke. The doctor sees you for a couple of minutes then has you "try" some medicine for a bit to see if it helps. He listens to what he wants to hear from you, and the therapy is about as effective talking to a friend, so id reccommened that first before turning to pathways. If you have insurance go to Dr. Evans instead...

I'd have to disagree...but I do know that b/c they are community mental health center and have to see so many low income or no income patients...then yeah they are not able to devote the time that a private practice would, BUT there are actually some REALLY good therapists there...well maybe a couple. Just depends on who you get or ask for.

pathways has been, is and always will be a joke, THEY HELP NOBODY but the big wigs. They hire babies to work with mentally ill patients...most employees ..this is their first encounter with mental illness. and they all the sudden become professionals as soon as they put the pathways hat on..come on medicaid..pull the plug already, quite letting this group of "professionals" rob our tax dollars

I wouldnt suggest my worst enemy talk to anyone that works at pathways, their counselors suck and lead you in the wrong direction of how to fix what is wrong

I actually saw a good therapist there for a while but that was before they resigned due to Dr. Kahn. I would say the only positive aspect of Pathways is their residential homes. The workers that staff those are good people.

I myself have went to pathways. Years ago for counseling and more recently for Marriage Counseling. My old counselor is no longer a counselor, but she was awesome! Pat was her name and she helped me through a lot. Dr. Kahn is a joke. My husband went to him for some help with a sleeping disorder and he gave him Remeron 15 mg. When my hubby would take his meds he would be a zombie for 2 days so he went back and talked to Dr. Kahn and his medicine was INCREASED! How does that make sense? He went from 15 to 30 mg! He will no longer go there and is now going to see our family doctor. When my husband and I went to marriage counseling, the therapist for that was great! He really made us realize that alot of our problems were minor and we are now doing great! I guess it all comes down to who you see, but regardless I would NOT recommend going to Dr. Kahn!

I have NEVER heard anything positive when it comes to Dr. Kahn. I would wait for over an hour past my appointment time just to see him for 2-3 minutes. He would rather increase or decrease my medication dosage and then remark "I will see you in a month". The last time I was there, I went in for an appointment with the therapist I was seeing and was told they had resigned the week before. I was told I would be assigned to a new therapist and someone would get in touch with me. I never heard from anyone. But its probably for the best. I got my first job not long after, started doing things to occupy my mind and before long I forgot all about my anxiety issues. I even stopped the zoloft and havent taken it since, and that was nine years ago. As for Dr. Kahn, he should spell his name Con.

I agree, especially John Fisher he is a poor excuse for a counselor or a human being, he is destroying lives and doesnt even care. He takes children away from their mothers and doesnt care at all.

I seen John Fisher and liked him very well. Had no problems with him whatsoever and he definitely didn't try to take my kids away.

pathways and about 99.9% of its employees are jokes. they dont help you, they stabilize you on dope and make you a codependent on their system, over half the people there dont have any formal training in mental health. and they ARE trouble makers if you ever disagree with any of them. CLOSE THEM DOWN!

I have had contact with Pathways and feel I got very good care. I was treated with respect. I was given the option of medication but declined and worked through my issue and I am now "back on track" and feeling great. It was great having that little extra support when I needed it. It was my first experience with mental health assistance. I think they were GREAT! In my experience that is....

Dr.Kahn is a very mean and rude person, however Vickie Thomas is great and she does talk to you. I highly recommend her, she has seen my son for years. Vickie is at both Greenup and Ashland.

to wondering. Yes Pathways has a detox program. It is successful if the person WANTS help. Every program has its holes, issues, ect. But I do believe that that it is a good program. There is no additional meds given for symptons of detox- just tyleno, ibprofen, or if you have perscription meds you may have them as directed.

the majority of these statements are so not true, obviously no one has met Kaye, she is amazing and definately has her heart involved, she helps me get through my struggles in more ways that I thought were possible, I think she is sincere and can relate to others, shes definately not into it just for the money, she does care and you can see it, she has to be the best and she inspires me!!! i cant say that about too many people, so before you get on here and talk about patways being a joke, you need to meet her, if youre going just for drugs then you probably do think negative about it, you should be going for the counseling on the reasons why you need medication.

I have to agree with you on that!! I've been going to Pathways for a number of years now, and I have to say that Dr. Khan is very pathetic. His "bedside" manner just sucks, and he doesn't listen. I think it might even kill him to crack a smile!!
