So I just left walmart in boyd co, not only do they not have any product on the shelves but they also do not have running water. How can a store operate like this and stay open? Also rumors swirling around that walmart employees are losing what little rights they had within the company.....is this the new managements fault our are they just trying to close this store down?

Sounds like you just had a bad experience. I shop there all the time and they almost always have a much better selection than the Ashland store.

I know for a fact that they had porta-johns brought in for customers to use because the restrooms were unavailable. They had people there working to fix the problem right away. The health department was there to check everything out and make sure things were being taken care of properly. AND the health department would have temporarily shut the store down had that been necessary. And do you ever think that you would have been even more aggravated if you had driven to the store and it wasn't open at all!!?? Do you think of all the pay that would have been lost to those associates who work hard for it?? Who need that paycheck to support their families? You've obviously never worked retail and customer service before or you might have an idea of what you're talking about. And as far as items being on the shelf....it gets stocked as fast as it can be worked. It isn't the associates fault that things don't get shipped on time. Maybe you should think things through a bit more before you go griping about something you don't know much about.

I never once blamed the associates for the shelves being bare, it was a questioning of managements handle of the freight. Especially since I mentioned the employees getting screwed over by walmart its obviously not an attack on then, so please try and read the whole post before freaking out....and yeah id be mad if they were closed but porta potties do not solve sanitation issues. Besides we all know walmart could have paid the employees for their missed shift...if your an associate I'm sorry that you took this as an attack against you...at least that walmart has nicer associates

The store is somewhat in bad shape and it has been for quite some time now. The store, however, just recently got a new store manager. Things are slowly turning around. It will take time to get running in a good direction again. They hire new people every day. I know people get mad because there are never enough registers open. I hate to stand in those long lines too, but unfortunately there is a slightly high turnover. Alot of people just don't have that good ol fashioned work ethic these days. Please don't take that the wrong way. I'm not saying that nobody wants to work. I'm just saying there are many who come in thinking it's gonna be a cake job.....it's not. It's hard to keep every single customer happy. Things are going to turn around though. Just give them some time to get the kinks worked out. I didn't intend to get snappy about it either. I just want people to understand that people at walmart really do try, but retail is a tough business. You get yelled at and talked down to every day by customers and eventually it starts to get to you.

Love this post. You are absolutely right. People do not have the same work ethic. Especially the younger crowd. There are far worse things in this world that Walmart not having what I'm looking for and a toilet being out of order.

This has nothing to do with the merchandise, or employees of WalMart. Only the drivers in the parking area. Why do people insist on parking directly in front of the clearly marked "no parking fire lane" signs,(and obviously this is not enforced). And speed through the obviously painted yellow lines indicating a pedistrian crossing, then glare at you for even attempting to walk out of the door and to your car. How dare you!(for those of us who actually use designated parking spaces)I'm not talking about only dropping off someone at the door, these people are there when I go in, and are still there when I leave. Just plain lazy and ignorant.

I don't understand how Walmart killed a single business. When Walmart came to Boyd county the Cannonsburg community decided to shop there instead of Piggly Wiggly. The community chose to KILL the small local businesses.

You can choose to go shop anywhere you please, and if enough people choose to shop local, and/ or American, then the local community will win. But until then, don't blame Walmart and don't be a stupid hypocrit.

Americans choose which businesses stay open and which ones close by the dollars we spend. It is that simple.
