So tonight I went to a play at ACTC and it got out late, almost 11. So we were hungry and decided to go to Fat Patty's. We get there and it says seat yourself so we start to go to a table and a guy stops us and says there is a cover charge. We are like what?! Now I am neither poor nor cheap but I refuse to pay a cover charge to eat at a RESTAURANT IN ASHLAND!!!!! I called to complain to the manager because it made me mad. He said they were doing it because after a certain hour they had to hire an extra bartender and a bouncer. First off the bouncer was pretty much a male hostess who was standing at the hostess stand asking for the cover charge. I asked him why I should have pay for the bartender. If they need an extra bartender that means that they are making more money on drinks, so why would that require a cover charge? He said sometimes they have live music. I said do you have live music tonight? He said no. So why should I pay a cover charge? Fat Patty's is not club! You know how I know that? There is not a dance floor or a DJ. There should not be a cover charge!!!!!! I have in the past been a very good Fat Patty's customer but from now on I will think twice about going there even when they are not going to charge me for the honor of buying there food! Oh one last thing, the manager said that the more people that complained the more likely that they would change the cover charge policy. So please call and complain about this unfair, unorthodox and unwanted charge!!!!!!!

That's so wrong!!! Why would they think that people would be okay with paying an extra charge to eat there? There are a lot of restaurants in the Ashland area. And their food is nothing special. If I go there, I generally spend a good deal of money, as well as tipping very well. If they are not satisfied with that, then I need to spend my money elsewhere. I would be okay with a cover charge if there was a band or a live DJ. But just to eat? Really!!!!!

I went to this Fat Patty's back in the summer my bill was $9.00 I paid w my debit card and left a undeserved $3.00 tip. I totaled it up and signed for $12.00 when the payment cleared my account it was in the amount of $15.00. I called to question it and I was told the manager would call me back, of course I never heard from anyone. I haven't been back to any of the Fat Patty's since!!

Went to fat pattys last week and got charged the cover charge...... Went there for wings with a date... Then I saw the " entertainment"... A very unattractive girl ( bartender).... Going from man to man at the bar.... Bending over to let them throw ice and try to get it down her top..... Wow. Now that's class!!!!!!! That's just what I wanted to see on a first date!! Guess that's the only way she could get any attention ... Lol.

Entitlement at its best. You come to topix to complain when the simple solution is to just not go back there. What makes you think that you need to start a movement to change what someone else is doing with THEIR business. Exercise the right you have and just don't go then. McDonalds is open 24 hours.

Fat Patty's is the "flavor of the month" when it comes to Ashland "nightlife" (an oxymoron if there ever was one). So....for now, if you're really trendy that's where you go.

In reality, it's an overrated bar & grill, like thousands of others out there, that is, a place to hang out, have a few drinks, and ogle persons if the opposite (or same, lol) sex.

I don't pay a "cover charge" for a beer and a burger....for the same reasons I dont wait around for an hour and a half to eat ordinary food at Cheddars....

Yes you are so right! How dare I think I am entitled to go into a restaurant in Ashland and eat, pay for my food and leave a generous tip without paying a cover charge!! Why would I think such an outrageous thing?**sarcasm** Oh, that's right, because it is the only restaurant in Ashland that is charging a cover charge! They have right to do what they want but I have the right to complain on topix and "start a movement" if I choose to.

Who's a "beeyoch?" the guy who walks away & DOESN'T give Fat Patty's his hard earned $$ for the oh so exclusive "privilege" of handing over MORE $$ to drink & dine?
Or the idiot who bends over & takes it so he can hang out at a bar & grill in Ashland KY?!?!
bwahahaha!!

The one who whines on topix. Bitchin ain't action. Who cares. Cover charge or not. Pay it or don't go, I'm just saying don't whine, don't go. You all some real party animals drinking at a restaurant anyway. Scoring some old nasty tail are ya?

Sounds like you are a pro at taking one in the rear since that is immediately where you went with this.

I have seen places just as successful as fat pattys go under because of silly business practices like this. Time will tell.
