There are rumors swarming all over the hospital that more are coming. State came in and ripped ass last week, so everyone is on edge. What State needs to know is that the nurse/patient ratio is way too high already. You can't get everything done, let alone spend hours on charting. It's a dangerous work environment. And, now to hear that more people may be let go?? It's just crazy.

They need to get rid of a bunch of administration. These people sit on their asses all day and burn a lot of payroll that could be spent on staffing the floors. One nurse can't meet all needs of 6-7 patients alone. It's dangerous. Especially if half or more of their patients are complete care. Get a clue KDMC. They will be their own undoing. Just hope I can find another job before it happens. Coventry Cares is smart to want to cut their contract with KDMC.

I don't know how they get by with having 15 VPs making 6 figure salaries and getting rid of the hands- on care givers. Its no wonder that place is in the shape that its in. GO FIGURE!!

They all walk around in their little pantsuits and skirts just smiling away, while the rest of us are working our butts off trying to do the best we can, and worrying about having to do hours of charting. They are so worried about tearing our charting apart, that is our main focus. They don't care about us actually being at the bedside doing what we need to do for our patients. All they care about is what is charted on that damn computer. Our license's are on the line because we cannot give safe, effective care to our patients do to short staffing and focusing on charting all day. I wish someone could step in and take over that place.

we're you saying it was fair that union employees were laid off too? Most of the union employees that had been laid off were secretaries and their jobs had become obsolete with the the computer system.

The SEIU should seriously consider new leadership because the current ones are doing nothing but hurting those at KDMC. If you don't believe me, ask a union member about the raise they got this year!

they are worried about charting so much because they have been fined out the wazoo for such things! It is sad! This is what I've heard! Right before the layoffs our supervisor told us that they were being audited and then BOOM! Heres your walking papers! So I'm guessing it took a toll on the hospital paying out all of the unexpected $$$$$$

The only ones making that kind of money in the union is those that have worked there like their whole lives. I'm talking since I was born in 1982.

10.00 and hour is good pay for these housekeepers? Well, maybe some, but i am here to tell you, the ones in the ER wored thier butts off. They deserve much higher pay than 10.00 an hour. Those people work very hard. I am speaking for them and I am a nurse who works with them.

Once the federal government is done investigating all of the heart caths they are doing and once St. Mary's starts thier little ER across the river, KDMC is going to feel it. You cant treat people like dogs forever and expect to keep good staff. From what I hear, half of the ER left and went to ST. Mary's.....this was thier good nurses. I know it isnt a place that I would want to be if I were sick right now. And to mention layoffs? lmao....someone needs to get thier priorities straight.
