Does anyone know of any place that is hiring for temporary/summer only? Lawn care, babysitting, cashier. Anything would suffice.

Did you know that 75% of available jobs are not advertised? I recently attended a seminar/class about this and that's what the speaker said. She also said that the best way to find jobs is by word of mouth. Seems to me that is what the original poster is doing....ASKING the community. You must be one of those folks that thinks Topix should just be used to tell who's screwing who and who's snorting what pill.

I'm not sure of exact places, but I can give you some ideas about where to start. I know for a fact that many of the local daycares hire people to work during the summer so they can give their year round employees vacation time. Also, check with the school systems because they sometimes run summer camps and need help. Lowes and Walmart are also good places to apply. Not sure how far you'd be willing to travel, but usually Carter Caves hires summer help.

Most of these places probably won't start hiring until mid May, but it's good to go ahead and contact them now and let them know you're interested. Good luck!

Thank you to those who gave useful information. I check the Internet ads as well as the newspaper on a regular basis with no luck. There are jobs out there but I am also a student taking summer classes. For this reason, my schedule is limited. I pride myself in not being one of those people who sits around all day and draws a welfare check. I'm Trying to find a job! I will be heading back out of town for school once the fall semester starts back. That's the reason I'm looking for something that is only temporary. I don't want to get a job just anywhere and then have to leave after only 3 months. That's not a position I want to put a particular business in. I know it takes time, money, and effort to train employees. Again, thank you for the help given here. I appreciate it.
