Boyd Co. Jailer

I was reading with interest the discussion about who was running for Boyd Co. Jail. The thread just stopped. Since then I have been asking around to find out what is wrong with the current jailer, but can't find anyone with specifics.
Can anybody speak intelligently about this topic without accusing someone of sleeping with someone else’s wife?
This is probably one of the most import elections for this county in years. Help a voter out.

Any problems that exist at jail if any are public record anyone interest only needs to ask corrections or jail under freedom of information and they have to give you the inf in 3 days

that has been tried..talk to the records keeper rex castle and all of his pending mess ups in his records. He was supposed to be a evience person there and lost cases by losing information and drugs. cocaine, no wonder he is so messed up!
The joe burchett needs to makes changes or wont have a chance in hell to be jailer again!

whats the number of employees that have worked there? its in over the 100's! GUESS...any takers! do you ask.. why? the answers coming. one more question. what other job in ashland to new york has had so many employees quit? under one mans command. someone needs to look into the record books.

the entire city of new york couldn't compare to Jailer Burchetts roll overs who he has let go.OR "weeded out"..Sinnead O Conner has NOTHING to compare to this pisser..telling me i should go spray all of em and let them feel it! He says Let em kick the door again..i was never supervised or certified with pepper spray.
At least i sent all this to the DOC.. Mr Ballard will like my huge statement.. X2.

Joe is not doing nothing but good things for the Co.people look around you see them out working and if these things where lost don't you think the state would shut it down or get rid of joe...some people don't like joe and thats fine but now there just grasping for anything they can.Next time you see joe walk up to him and talk to him he will inform you on anything you want to know.

He'll tell you what he want's you to hear or to know. Some of it may not be the truth. But, that's politics.They ALL do. I neither like nor do I dislike Mr. Burchett. I Just because inmates are out working doesn't make him a BC saviour....I think inmates SHOULD be earning their keep, and not entirely at the taxpayers expense.

You would have to work there to really understand how bad this man is. He treats his employees just as bad as the inmates-hence the turnover. As for the work program outside-the ONLY reason he does that is for show-to get votes. My dog (who is very stupid) has a better chance of getting elected to Jailer than he does next election. IF he even makes it that long. The DOC is on to him, and are there several times a week.

And to Proud BC Man-Joe will tell you anything he thinks you want to hear, especially if it makes him look good. That doesn't mean he is telling the truth.

I agree, the inmates working outside the jail is a good thing. It should be continued by Joe, or anyone else who is elected to the office of jailer.
You bring up an interesting point about the state taking over. That is the reason I started this thread. I have heard rumor that the DOC is considering a takeover. I was even told by a member of fiscal court that they have been able to fend off a takeover, but don't know how long they can.
Again I ask the question, what is wrong with the way the jail is operated. I can't believe the DOC would take over because of high turnover of employees.
By the way I have talked to Joe. All he will say is everybody is out to get him.

My mom worked at bcdc for over a year. She is one of the kindest, most honest people I know. She was good to the inmates, the visitors, and really like the people she worked with. For a long time, she defended the Burchetts any time someone said anything bad about them. After she worked there for a while, she finally realized that most of what people said was true, and even then she just didn't say anything about them. But it finally got to the point when she couldn't stand what was going on anymore and quit. And it was bcdc's loss-she was a really good worker who tried to treat everyone right. Joe B is an idiot. That is why he keeps losing employees.

Voter-usually if everyone is out to get someone, there is a reason. In this case there a LOTS of reasons. The best thing that could happen would be for the DOC to take over.

So are you saying the jail is beyond repair? Why would you wish the state to take over the county jail? Wouldn't it be easier to just get rid of the problem?

No,what I am saying is that the DOC needs to send someone in to run the jail properly until the next election. The jail isn't beyond repair-the jailer just never bothered to make any repairs until the DOC came in and gave him deadlines to get things fixed.

As far as physical plant, just minor things now. The doc made them fix many, many things or be shut down. But the jailer's attitude hasn't changed at all, and the employees quit faster than they can hire new ones. He seems to think nothing of calling them names, including ones that include the F word. No one should have to work like that. I personally heard him call inmates f***ers. And this is a man who claims to be a Christian. Not that Christians are perfect, but they sure don't talk to people like that.

another problem i have noticed also, if u dont kiss his wifes butt she hates ur guts also. she hates everyone to be honest with u. she will stab u in the back in a heartbeat. they use people 2 their advantage and if u dont, ur done with then. these r some evil people i will tell u. no morals and unhonest

Its only certain...there is a poll from a lady who lives in Pedro, oh....she has over 1720 votes from ppl in the county of Boyd...those votes are to remove the boyd county jailer, joe burchett should have hosted a haunted house. who would set that up...
