Read in the Huntington newspaper where KD was offering 10 laid-off unio employees part-time positions to come back. Catch. You bet ya. The jobs were in food services and housekeeping regardless of what your previous position was, your pay CUT would be approximately 3-4 dollars per hour, of course it's part-time, you give up all your previous benefits to include insurance, sick time, etc. and best of all if you don't take the position you give up your right to EVER being called back (i.e FIRED). Great deal huh.

And don't forget, if you turn the job down, you lose you unemployment benifits as well. Again, another example of why I can't understand why EVERYONE at KDMC won't stand together.

If they are offering a job and you don't want it.. Then don't take it. A job in the food service would be a lot better than homeless. Housekeedping, plant ops, and food services were the majority of the union anyways.

With this economy I would take any job I could find.

I use to work at kdmc. The union files a grievence if you walk by and fart.

The auto industry? That's what you want to compare a health care faciltity to? Wow. People don't HAVE to buy cars. EVERYONE gets sick, has accidents, needs tests run etc.... When CEO's make over 300% more a year than hourly workers, the result is the auto industry. But that is a complete other topic. Companies will do what you allow. It's that simple. You just have to have the backbone to face them. It can be scary at times. We all thought at our last contract we would strike for sure. But we held our ground. Together. And got what we asked. I file grievances almost every day. I will continue to as long as a violation of the labor agreement or overtime guidelines has occured. If you want to drop your head and bow to KDMC, that's your choice. But your closed minded thinking will be your own worst enemy when it's YOUR job and livelyhood on the line and the only one standing there to defend and help you is you. <quoted text>

Well i am officially bored with all this...White corporate american greed is everywhere and no one is going to change it. Greed exists everywhere from the Government and extends all the way down, even the Union...And I was being serious about donating food or offering to pay a couple bills for someone that was layed off at the hospital..As far as Rick goes, well he is a piece of Crap...Say what u want, companies and corporations will continue to do what they want whenever they want, and no one or no union can stop them...The union didnt stop anything from happening in the auto industry...been to detroit lately?? the place is a dump from all the unemployment...So please dont feed me the union rhetoric..I believe the auto industry is over 4000 strong and they didnt change anything...So if you are Union, stop being hypocrites...Go shop at krogers instead of walmart..you should be supporting your fellow union members...
Getting bored because your getting shut down. SEIU Facts Im not the angry, full of hate person you think I am. Really. Not on here to really fight, Im a grown adult person stating my opinions just like you. So if this is the end of your discussion on here just wanted to let you know that all Unions are not bad and all union people are just that people with pride that deserves respect. When you put down our Unions, you put us down because we stick together as one and have eachothers backs. Please look at the entire picture before casting judgement, because in the end we are all truly alike, people standing up for what we believe in, you included whether its right or wrong.

Then I ask that you do the same.. even though I am not a union member...Respect where I work and what I do...When u say bad things about where I work, its a direct reflection on me..So u can understand how i feel then..When i started this, I did look at the Entire picture and what I seen was a picture that was being painted 1 sided...So all i did was post the other side so that people can see that kdmc and the union are just like any other business...They are in it to make money, and they all operate alike..you cant tell me for one second that union halls dont use favortism for jobs, etc..So with that being said, I will continue to follow this thread but I will just go back to making posts that are informational, and ensure both sides are being bashed equally..:)

How does SEIU have any authority over who has what job unless it's seniority related?

Thats exactly right, our seniority rules with job bids, vacations, holidays etc... As well it should.

I think that with job bids, it should go to the most qualified person. The rest I agree with.

With job bids it does go to the most qualified person. If the most senior is deemed unqualfied then it goes to the next most senior qualified person. If we would let our seniority go on job bids then they would cherry-pick thru and choose whoever they wanted.

When qualifications are equal, seniority should prevail.

Still waiting to hear how the union uses favoritism in respect to jobs... And you really think that the local is " making money"? Please elaborate.

This isn't just happening at kings daughters, but all over thanks to obamacare, and all you bellefont people acting so high and mighty. At least the money made at kd stays in the community and doesn't go to some corporate office hundreds of miles away...I also heard that it's only a matter of time before OLBH does the same, they just knew kings daughters was about to and they were waiting for them to go first so they wouldn't look as bad. they've already done this in other places. " obamacare " has absolutely nothing to do with the situation at KDMC. Take a look around Ashland at the millions of dollars spent on expansion by KDMC. It's called piss poor management. No more. No less.

Seems to me that if they are corporate at least the CEO of OLBH has someone to answer to unlike Fred. And I guess it is OK to defraud the government out of millions of dollars if it stays in the community!

You have a real problem yet you mouth at someone else. Get a life and look in the mirror. Stop running that trap of yours before you tell someone else to shut-up!
