Registered sex offenders would not be allowed to be on HUD, at least. I don't know about the other services.

I don't think any convicted felon should get any public assistance. We already paid for thier jail and prison stay!

Hell No !!I am a law abiding person, paying my tax and all the other crap that we have to do, to keep a roof over my head and food in my mouth. I resent the fact that anyone can live for free or get assistance. Let them dig ditches for a living !!

A LOT of people who get foodstamps and HUD are hardworking people who can't make ends meet on a minimum wage job, or who were employed, but lost their jobs. I hope you are never in that position.

But, most aren't. They have decided it is easier to let the system take care of them. Why give up thier cigs and beers,if they can get food stamps or food ? I will guantee you, that most of them buy more new clothes and spend more recreation money than I do. It is about choices !!! Take care of yourself first and not expect someone else to meet your needs.

Ok, you don't want sex offenders to be on welfare....but do you really want them working with the public?

Most are either employed or disabled if they are on HUD in Ashland. They do not have a lot of recreation money, for the most part, and HUD does not usually pay ALL of the rent, either, just part. Find out what HUD does before you make assumptions.

The only thing sex offenders deserve is to be 6ft under. They make me sick! I can't believe they are not put to death. Especially, if it was a child they violated. I don't understand why they are allowed to walk free. They do it once they will do it again. There needs to be harsher punishment for sex offenders. I vote DEATH!

And, HUD pays none of my rent...so, what is your point ??

My point is these people are doing the best they can. What do you think they should do when they find themselves on hard times? Seriously? If you were totally broke and working a minimum wage job, what would you do? A lot of minimum wage jobs won't employee people full time, so they can avoid providing insurance benefits. Life is not a bed of roses for those folks. Where is your humanity?

I have been totally broke and working a minimum wage job. What did I do ? Bought flour, potatoes and milk and the grocery. We lived on biscuits, gravy and potatoes. By we..I mean my husband, toddler and myself who was pregnant at the time. We hocked everything we didn't need to pay utilities. I went back to school and earned a degree. Don't expect me to feel sorry for folks that don't have a descent paying job. Get off your ass and take care of yourself !!!!

What kind of decent paying job do you have? How did you pay for medical care while you were pregnant? How did you pay for good nutrition for you while you were pregnant? How did you pay for things to hock in the first place? Not everyone owns anything worth hocking.

I don't want to pay for a sex offender's food stamps! Allowing sex offenders to receive welfare forces all working americans to support the well-being of convicted sex criminals!

I now work in the medical field.
My insurance was covered under my husband..who, was off work due to a severe back injury
Hocked high school rings, the extra tv set, a few pieces of jewelry.
Didn't have the best nutrition for a pregnant woman..but, by the grace of God, the baby was born healthy.
Had a few things to hock because my husband and myself had both worked since we were sixteen years old !
Sorry, you were fishing to find a government hand out...none here. My husband was drawning less than 400 month sick pay and so that disqualfied us from receiving any welfare that our taxes had went to pay. People need to realize that they are responsible for themself and not rely on the system.

I was not fishing to find you had taken a government handout. You assume too much about what people have. There are people in this world who don't have class rings and jewelry to hock. I hope you never, ever know what that's like, but I've seen folks in that position. Their suffering hurt me deeply, and it caused me to despise my job because there are truly people who have need of help. It's gut wrenching. If you could see those people, and not feel... well, I would hate to be such a person.
